World’s Largest Flower – 4 ft Wide and Smells like Rotten Meat
A flower named parasitic bloom, at times, referred to as a corpse flower imitates the stench of rotten meat to appeal insects.
A few reformists from Indonesia say they have dappled the largest specimen ever of what is being billed already as one of the world’s biggest flowers.
The huge Rafflesia tuan-mundane – A fleshy red-colored flower with white blister-like spots over its extensive petals – came in at a hooping 111 centimeters (3.6 foot) in diameter.
This is even larger than the earlier record of 107 centimeters on a flower also found in the jungles of West Sumatra some years ago.
Ade Putra, at the Agam Conservation Agency in Sumatra, says- “Parasitic flower is the biggest Rafflesia tuan-made that has ever been recorded”. Moreover, he added, the flowers bloom will only remain about one week before it will rot or wither.
After British Colonialist Sir Stamford Raffles who spotted one in Indonesia in the early 19th century, it was renamed as “Rafflesia”.
The organisms grow in some Southeast Asian countries which include the Philippines where a 100-centimeter flower was recorded. A phallus-shaped bloom that can reach heights of up to 3 meters (10 feet) with sharing that poisonous smell in Indonesia’s Amorphophallus titanum.
