Trump Takes a Dig at Obama Over Nobel Peace Prize 2025; Calls Himself More Deserving

Donald Trump, the current President of the United States, is now aiming to receive the Nobel Peace Prize 2025. He considers himself the right person to be honoured for his contribution in restoring peace between Israel and Hamas.
As the Nobel announcement nears, the US President is becoming impatient for the verdict from the committee, but has already started trying to prove himself as the right candidate for the prize.
Taking a jab at his predecessor, Barack Obama, he called it ‘Awarded for Nothing’. Let’s further know what made Trump form this opinion about the latter.
‘Obama Was Not a Good President’: Donald Trump
Barack Obama received the Nobel Peace Award in 2009 when he was serving as the 44th US President. The Norwegian Committee regarded his efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation among people.
But according to Donald Trump, he has done nothing special and has instead destroyed the country. Hence, honouring him with the Nobel Prize was irrelevant.
In fact, even before Trump’s reaction, the decision came as a shock for the liberal New York Times, which called it very premature and argued that the Nobel ‘should have a higher bar’.
The US President made this statement in the Oval Office while interacting with reporters. He was joined by Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Finland, who was counting on his historic peace deal between Israel and Hamas.
According to a report by a British daily newspaper, Trump made this remark when expressing his intention to visit Egypt to sign a deal in the coming days.
Portraying himself as the right person for the prestigious Nobel Prize, Trump claimed credit for preventing eight wars, calling it an unprecedented feat.
He added that regardless of whether the committee’s decision comes in his favour or not, the recognition had never been his prime goal, but to save many lives.
