Amazon Issues Memo to Employees in India Affected by H-1B Visa Delays
According to the latest business Flypped news update, Amazon has allowed some of its employees to work from home temporarily due to US visa delays.
It is especially for those who are unable to return to the US due to the sluggish processing of H-1B and H-4 visas. Let’s know more about it further.
What is the Amazon H-1B visa memo?
Amazon employees who are stuck in India will be working in the country due to delays in the US visa. The last timeline for the remote work is March 2, 2026.
This temporary policy allows those workers who have been in the country (India) on December 13, 2025 and are failing to return, as the process of their H-1B and H-4 visas will take time.
However, it comes with strict boundaries which employees must adhere to. They are prohibited from written work, examining software, resolving technical issues, chatting with customers, and making business decisions. They are also not allowed to work in Amazon’s Indian offices.
Employees must follow these rules until the shortages in visa appointments and longer processing at US consulates are addressed. After that, they have to return.
Why are Amazon employees facing H-1B delays?
The main reason why Amazon employees are facing is, of course, the late processing of their US visa appointments.
Apart from that, it is the limited availability of appointment slots at US consulates and the time-consuming background checks.
Those who have applied for H-1B and H-4 visas are waiting patiently for weeks or months. They are doing this to schedule their visa interviews.
This delay problem is not the only issue with Amazon; employees in the tech firms are facing the same problems.
Because of processing delays, employees struggle with problems. They cannot join their jobs in the U.S as they have to wait for their visas to be approved.
