Deepika Padukone Opens Up About Taking on Chhapaak
Talking about the film Deepika Padukone said “People are saying that we have taken a big risk, but I don't think of this (film) as a risk. It is something that she (the film's director Meghna Gulzar has lived with for so many years. As a human being and a director, she was ready to tell the story.
She came to me with it and I instantly said yes to the film, so there hasn't been over-thinking or over-processing. I think whatever we have done to make this film was done very instantly and instinctively, and with a lot of heart. We want people to receive this film the way we have made it.”
Sharing the feminist perspective, Deepika posted a video on twitter with the caption
Celebrating Strength and Dignity of Acid Attack Survivors
The video begins with dialogue by Meghna Gulzar “it is a strange dichotomy that on one level we are fighting for feminism, and women's rights and at another level women are put at a pedestal where their beauty is at a premium...which is why taking away the beauty, attacking her with acid, has become a weapon of choice.”
It seems that all those involved in making the movie are proud of themselves and the courage of the survivors who dared to step out and tell people their side of the store.
Talking about this actor Vikrant Massey said: "I'm really proud of them, that they rightfully have come out in the open...they deserve as much dignity and respect as you and I.”
