Shahid Kapoor's O' Romeo in Legal Crossfire, Ustara's Daughter seeks Stay
Actor Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film ‘O Romeo’ has fallen into legal trouble before its release.
Sanobar Shaikh, daughter of Hussain Ustara, has filed the case, alleging an inappropriate description of the former Mumbai-based journalist, not as a gangster.
O' Romeo in Legal Crossfire
According to Sanober, the film, which revolves around her father’s life, portrays him wrongly as a gangster who had a rivalry with Dawood Ibrahim.
He is presented in a false manner that mars his reputation. Now she is seeking the court’s approval to pre-screen the film and to appoint a court commissioner to review it before it is released.
Advocate DV Saroj has filed a case against producer Sajid Nadiadwala, director Vishal Bharadwaj, and the author of the book that inspired the film.
The suit also argues that, according to Mumbai Police records, Hussain Ustara was a police informer, while the film’s trailer presents him as a criminal.
With this, the reputation and safety of his family will be at risk.

Sanober further said that her father worked with the Mumbai Police and the Intelligence Bureau, which helped them intercept criminal activities.
Because of this, his life did come under threat. As mentioned in the suit, Hussain Ustara even applied for approval to wear a bulletproof jacket in 1994.
According to the case, Dawood Ibrahim’s gang considered him a threat to them, as he used to openly oppose them.
Because of this, Dawood’s close associates, including Chota Shakeel, planned to kill him. And it came true on September 11, 1998, when he was killed while acting as a police informer.
