As an emotional tribute to acts of bravery, Border 2 marked a special occasion by visiting the important Karwar Naval Base on January 14, 2026. This extremely significant incident of remembrance demonstrated the importance of Border in Indian cinema. The movie will be released in movie theatres on January 23.

An emotional musical performance that resonated for the first time in the naval docks, with the sunset over the Arabian Sea, the voices of legends to tribute the men and women in white by Sonu Nigam and Vishal Mishra

The audience watched in awe as Sonu Nigam honored the Indian Navy at Karwar Naval for the upcoming film Border 2 with live performances of songs from the film's soundtrack. It was fitting that Sonu Nigam, who has been associated with the Border series for many years, sang "Ghar Kab Aaoge," a song that eloquently expresses the bittersweet yearning a soldier feels for their home. 

Vishal Mishra’s Modern Anthem:

Bringing a fresh and intense element to the evening, Vishal Mishra sang “Jaate Hue Lamhon.” His performance embodied the elements of brotherhood and sacrifice, bridging both the nostalgic origins of the first installment and the modern scale of the sequel's cinema.

The Naval Link: The Role of Ahan Shetty

Where the original classic of 1997 was fixated on the desert sands of Longewala, Border 2 is all set to widen its vistas to include high seas. One major aspect that makes Border 2 pay a special tribute to the Indian Navy is because of a particular role portrayed by Ahan Shetty.

Actor Ahan Shetty plays a brave naval officer (Lt Cdr Joseph Noronha) in this movie. As he was directly related to the naval force, the Border 2 crew felt that to pay their respects to this noble profession, an event had to be organized at an operational naval base. Ahan, his co-stars Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan spent several hours with the naval officers to witness firsthand their discipline and grit to safeguard such a long coast of India.

Tribute to the Indian Navy at Karwar Naval Base

The decision to pay tribute to the Indian Navy at Karwar Naval Base, among others, has been a part of an ‘unconventional yet respectful approach’. Instead of ‘standard studio launch events’, the Border 2 team have preferred ‘authentic military sites’:

Longewala: Launching “Ghar Kab Aaoge” for the Indian Army & BSF.

United Services Club: “Jaate Hue Lamhon” at a naval residential cantonment.

Karwar: A full-scale musical tribute in association with the historic INS Vikrant.

To do what we are doing here, in this navy base, gives a completely different meaning to these lyrics, Sonu Nigam said while speaking at the event. It is not merely a song; it is a tribute.

The Karwar energy has thus strengthened the idea that Josh has never been this high. Josh, which has an all-star cast featuring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, has all the makings of being the year’s largest cinema spectacle.
