Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Dies in Baramati Plane Crash
A plane carrying NCP chief and Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, crashed on Wednesday morning while landing at Baramati Airport in Maharashtra.
Pawar, along with four others, including his security personnel and the flight crew, died in the crash. The small aircraft took off from Mumbai at approximately 8:00 AM and crashed about 45 minutes later during its attempted landing at Baramati airport.
According to reports, Pawar planned to attend a crucial public meeting before the local body polls.
The visuals of the plane crash showed flames, thick smoke, the wreckage of the aircraft, and ambulances arriving quickly to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that all five people on board died in the crash.
A company named VSR, operating a Learjet 45, was conducting the flight. In September 2023, a report of a similar flight model crash had surfaced before.

Ajit Pawar, 66, was the nephew of Sharad Pawar, a former politician and founder of the NCP (Nationalist Congress Party).
Over the years, the senior politician has held several key positions in the Maharashtra government and has worked as Deputy Chief Minister for more than one term.
Pawar was the grandson of Govindrao Pawar, who had an active role in cooperative movements and local governance in Baramati. Whereas his grandmother, Shardbai Pawar, worked for the rural community.
His father, Anantrao Pawar, was Sharad Pawar's elder brother. He is known to have laid the foundation of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra four times.
Pawar's brother, Shriniwas Pawar, is not into politics and runs a family business. He had a sister, Vijaya Patil, who worked in the media. She died in 2017.

The deceased politician is survived by his wife, Sunetra Pawar, and two sons, Jay Pawar and Parth Pawar.
Talking about his wife, Sunetra Pawar, she serves as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra and is part of her late husband’s political party (NCP).
Besides politics, she is also the chairperson of Baramati Textile Company and the CEO of the Environmental Forum of India. Are there sons?
He was also a cousin of Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule. Both Sharad Pawar and Sule were about to leave for Pune from Delhi, where they attended the Parliament’s budget session.
In 2023, under the leadership of Ajit Pawar, NCP was divided into two separate groups. One was led by him, and the other by his uncle, Sharad Pawar.
Later on, he joined the NDA government and served as the Deputy Chief Minister. Recently, there were discussions about the NCP's reunion, as both factions had contested jointly in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation elections.

According to the Maharashtra plane crash news, so far, no statement has come from the Pawar family, NCP leadership, or the Maharashtra government regarding the plane crash tragedy that led to the death of Ajit Pawar.
PM Modi Expresses Grief Over Pawar’s Death
On knowing about the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar in a plane crash, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief on X.
According to him, Pawar was a great personality who worked hard to serve the people of Maharashtra, empower the poor, and uplift the downtrodden.
Modi expressed condolences to his family and his many admirers.
