Three Charred to Death in Bus Accident in Nandyal District

A private bus caught fire after it came into contact with a container lorry in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh, on early Thursday.

The accident took place around 1:30 AM, killing three people. Check out the video on X.

What Happened in the Nandyal Bus Accident?

The bus was heading towards Hyderabad, Telangana, from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, when its right tyre burst.

​The driver lost control soon after the burst, causing the vehicle to cross the road divider and crash into a container lorry from the opposite direction.

The collision between the bus and the truck carrying motorcycles resulted in a fire.

Residents of the area, along with the bus cleaner and the bus conductor, helped rescue passengers trapped inside by breaking the windows.

Blazing Vehicles Cause Hours-Long Traffic Jam on Highway

The Nandyal bus accident was so fatal that it caused significant traffic disruption for long hours.

​The fire services rushed to the scene, extinguished the flames, and towed the damaged vehicles.

​Due to severe injuries, three people, including a bus driver, a bus cleaner, and the truck driver, lost their lives.

​Their bodies were later taken for post-mortem examination in a government hospital. All the passengers whom these three tried to help survived the fire.

​According to Nandyal's latest news, 4 of the 36 passengers onboard sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Nandyal District Government Hospital.

​While trying to save themselves, passengers jumped out of the bus windows. Besides fire extinguishers, police also arrived at the spot and initiated their probe.

​Based on preliminary findings, it was confirmed that the driver lost control because of a tyre burst, which resulted in a fatal collision and caused fire.

Recalling the Kurnool Bus Fire That Claimed 20 Lives

The recent bus tragedy reminds us of the previous fatal bus tragedy in October 2025, in which 20 people lost their lives when they got trapped in a fire.

​The incident happened in the neighbouring Kurnool district in the state.

​Now, the current incident has drawn concerns regarding vehicle safety, the risks of night travel, and the speed of private long-distance buses.

​On taking note of the recent Andhra Pradesh bus accident, B.C. Janardhan Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister, expressed shock and directed officials to provide the best possible treatment to those injured.

Possible Ways to Prevent Such Fatal Bus Collision And Fire Incidents

The two major bus collisions are a grave concern for the people's safety when commuting in private vehicles.

​It demands the necessary measures to prevent such hazardous incidents. Suggesting some of the possible ways are

  • Facility of fire extinguishing and emergency exits
