Trump Issues Stark Warning Following Greenland's Reaffirmation of Danish Ties

Greenland's Response to Trump
During a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen, Greenland’s Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, clarified that when it comes to choosing between the United States and Denmark, the island would align with Denmark amid ongoing geopolitical strain.
He also said that Greenland prioritises its current government and thinks staying united is essential in this crucial and uncertain phase.
According to Denmark News, Nielsen’s comments came amid an important meeting in Washington with US officials, Danish, and Greenlandic leaders. It included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance.
The primary objective behind these talks is to alleviate tensions over Trump’s alleged motive to acquire Greenland, which has strained the relationship between the two nations.
Idea of Annexing Greenland is Unacceptable, Says Nielsen
Calling the current situation very crucial, Greenland’s Prime Minister, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, stated that the idea of having control over Greenland is not acceptable at all.
According to him, such threats violate international standards and break trust between the two countries.
Donald Trump’s Sharp Response to Nielsen’s Remarks
Responding sharply to Nielsen’s remarks, the US President Donald Trump remained adamant about his decision to acquire Greenland through economic pressure and, if needed, by military force.
He further warned that opposing the US move will result in grave consequences.
Support From the European Nations
Considering the grave situation, European nations, including the United Kingdom and Germany they are supporting the deployment of military forces in Greenland to fortify Arctic security.
After the meeting with the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, the German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, is optimistic that Europe can help in a "compromise" with the US over Greenland.
