India vs New Zealand Highlights: India Win Final by 96 Runs

Sunday’s match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad became an unforgettable historic event when India claimed final victory over New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

It defeated New Zealand by 96 runs. With this victory, India became the first team to claim three T20 World Cup titles.

New Zealand vs India Toss

In the toss between India and New Zealand, India opted to bat first and posted a competitive score of 255 for 5 in 20 overs. It seemed to be the highest score recorded in the T20 World Cup final.

Sanju Samson, who was declared India vs New Zealand Man of the Match, scored 89 runs off 46 balls as an opening batsman.

He was strongly supported by his fellow player Abhishek Sharma, who successfully scored a half-century, scoring 52 off 21 deliveries.

After that, Ishan Kishan added another half-century off 23 balls paving India in posting a huge score.

India vs New Zealand Highlights

After India posted a daunting total, New Zealand came to bat and struggled hard to chase the score from the beginning.

The constant bowling attack by Indian bowlers made it difficult for the Black Caps to build a quicker run-rate and partnerships.

Despite Tim Seifert’s 52, New Zealand failed to come closer to India’s score and were knocked out at 159 in 19 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Standout Bowling Performance

One of the key factors that drove India to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 trophy was Jasprit Bumrah’s terrific bowling performance.

He took 4 wickets for 15 runs in his four overs and earned the title of Player of the Match.

Talking about spinner Axar Patel, his performance was also commendable as he picked three wickets, breaking the Kiwis middle order, which later sealed India’s victory in the final.

Viewers who watched India vs New Zealand live jumped with excitement when India came out victorious.

It was indeed a historical moment not just for the Indian cricket team but also for millions of Indian cricket fans.

Moreover, this victory held historical significance, as it marked the first time the host nation lifted the T20 World Cup on home soil.

Sanju Samson, who earlier impressed with his innings that brought India to the semi-finals, again gained momentum with his standout batting, helping India win the World Cup 2026 trophy.

Stadium Engulfed With an Environment of Celebration

Following this victory, celebrations took place across the Narendra Modi Stadium, and Indian cricket fans experienced joy.

Indian Cricket team Captain Suryakumar Yadav lifted the trophy with his teammates, marking an unforgettable moment in cricket history. Messages of congratulations were poured from veteran cricketers, Bollywood, and global figures, who applauded the team’s spectacular performance.

India’s victory in the World Cup 2026 has defined their dominance in the shortest format of the game and made them the most successful team in T20 World Cup history.

Reaction From Pakistani Cricket Star Shoaib Akhtar

According to him, India is capable of winning the next edition of the 50-over World Cup as well.
