Shreyas Iyer Criticises India's Batting: Dinesh Karthik Questions His ‘Atrocious’ Batting Remark

Shreyas Iyer Criticises India's Batting: Shreyas Iyer is under more pressure after a difficult start as India's T20I captain.

He has not won a match yet, and defeats to Ireland and England have raised concerns about the team's performance.

Shreyas Iyer Criticises India Batting: Stellar IPL Captaincy Record Fails to Translate to India Success

India's batting performance: Iyer, who was not on India's last two T20 World Cup-winning teams, became captain after proving himself as a leader in the IPL.

He took Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Punjab Kings to the IPL finals and won the title with Kolkata Knight Riders.

These achievements raised hopes, but Iyer has not matched them as India's international captain.

The team is still looking for solutions after a few disappointing matches.

Dinesh Karthik Cricbuzz Analysis

Shreyas Iyer criticises India Batting: Former India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik also questioned Iyer's comments after the match.

He said it is unusual for a captain to criticise his own batting lineup so strongly after a loss.

Karthik felt Iyer's words showed just how frustrated the team was after another poor batting display.

On Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said India had one of its worst batting performances in a long time.

He noted that it was unusual for the captain to use strong words like "atrocious" and "awful" about the batting.

England vs India Third T20: Karthik Backs Struggling Iyer as Key to India’s Success Despite Recent Slump

In his last five innings, Iyer has scored only one half-century, and that was in a match that was washed out.

He also struggled in the 202-run chase against England, getting out for just five runs.

Shreyas Iyer criticises India Batting: At the same time, Karthik supported Shreyas, saying it is understandable for the captain to feel frustrated after the recent results.

However, Karthik said Iyer is still an important part of the batting lineup. He believes India's results will improve once Iyer starts scoring more runs.

Iyer seemed disappointed, but Karthik made it clear he remains a key player.

He also said that when Iyer scores, the team does better, as seen during his time with Punjab Kings.

India's Atrocious Batting: Dinesh Karthik Surprised by World Champions India’s Sudden Slump After Recent Losses

On India's recent struggles, Karthik said he was surprised by how quickly the team's form dropped.

He wondered how the world champions ended up in such a bad run and thought India should have been able to chase the target, even with tough conditions.

They questioned India's recent form, noting that the team lost four of its last five matches despite being world champions.

They said the pitch was a bit slow and felt that a score of about 200 was average, so India should have been able to chase it.

Anil Kumble On India Batting Collapse Against England

Former India captain Anil Kumble described India's performance as a complete surrender, saying such a collapse was unexpected from the reigning world champions.

The veteran Indian cricketer praised England's bowlers, adding that Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue executed their plans to perfection.

He also said England's bowlers maintained relentless pressure with short-pitched, high-speed deliveries, with Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue consistently bowling above 145 kmph.

He added that India's batters failed to show enough patience, choosing to attack rather than absorb pressure and build their innings.

Kumble criticised the frequent changes to India's playing XI, saying the constant reshuffling of the bowling attack needed to stop.

He noted that while the batting lineup had remained largely unchanged apart from Sanju Samson being replaced by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the bowlers were repeatedly rotated.

He pointed out that Prasidh Krishna was dropped after just one poor outing against Ireland, despite the need to show greater faith in the bowling unit.

Kumble said Prince Yadav impressed by taking three wickets in the second T20I, but India still lost the match.

He stressed that a new captain should back the same group of five bowlers, adding that while batters score runs, bowlers are the ones who win matches.

He also felt India became complacent during the Ireland series, believing victories would come easily.

He further said India failed to adapt to the conditions and instead tried to impose its own style of play regardless of the situation.

According to Kumble, those setbacks made the challenge even tougher against an experienced England side at home, where adapting to conditions was essential for success.

Kumble also questioned the decision to send Harshit Rana ahead of Shivam Dube in the batting order.

He said T20 cricket demands that the team's best batters face the most deliveries, adding that expecting a No. 8 batter to finish a game ahead of a proven batter was not the right approach in modern-day cricket.
