Virat Kohli, the star Indian batsman, has put all speculation to rest after the DDCA (Delhi & District Cricket Association) confirmed his participation in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, a 50-over tournament.

Kohli, 37, now represents India in only ODI matches. As the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) has made it mandatory for contracted players to play domestic matches, he will now play for Delhi at the tournament that starts from December 24 in Ahmedabad.

Kohli’s Full Participation in Vijay Hazare Trophy Uncertain, Says DDCA

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma said Kohli will play some matches, but it is not certain whether he will continue throughout the tournament.

Recently, the Chase Master scored his 52nd ODI century against South Africa in Ranchi. He scored 135 runs, including 7 sixes, and was named Player of the Match.

When the last ODI of the current series concludes on December 6 in Visakhapatnam, Virat Kohli will have ample time to prepare himself for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

But as DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma said, it is not clear whether he will play all seven league matches, which will run till January 8.

Delhi’s Domestic Campaign Begins Ahead of India–New Zealand ODI Series

The ODI series against New Zealand in Vadodara begins just three days later. Delhi will play five league matches in Alur near Bengaluru, and the remaining two at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the IPL home ground of Kohli with RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru).

In September 2013, Kohli played the last match of 50 overs in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy. His last appearance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy was during the 2009-10 season, as captain of Delhi.

According to the latest cricket news, Delhi has won two out of four matches under Nitish Rana’s captaincy in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a domestic T20 tournament.
