Naseeruddin Shah Slams Bollywood For Typecasting Satish Shah As a Comedian
The recent demise of talented actor-comedian Satish Shah came as a shock to people in the entertainment industry.
Among them is the veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who expressed grief over the death of his Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron co-star.
Calling Satish Shah a gifted actor, Naseeruddin Shah said that the late actor had a quality of lighting the room with his laughter and warmth.
He slammed Bollywood for stereotyping him as a comedian. According to him, his talent was beyond it.
‘Satish Was Content With Humour Roles’: Naseeruddin Shah
Naseer also mentioned that Satish Shah never raised qualms about being stereotyped and was content with the comedy roles.
He wondered whether ‘Follywood’, referring to the Hindi film industry, had any dark purpose behind it.
Citing Satish Shah as an example, the actor also felt that actors like him who were equally entertaining in real life were not taken seriously.
Praising the late comedian actor, the veteran actor also added that he deserved to achieve more in Indian cinema, but was instead content with simple joys.
The Padma Shri recipient did not stop here. According to him, he always had this feeling that Satish was not doing justice to his exceptional talent by playing it safe. But he chose it and lived his life to the fullest.

Sharing Screen Space in ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’
Both Naseer and Satish shared the screen space in the 1983 film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. He played the role of a played the role of D'Mello, a corrupt municipal commissioner.
Even though his character dies early in the film, he still plays an important part, as the comedy turns funnier later when his dead body becomes the highlight of the famous, hilarious Mahabharat scene.
Both actors also acted in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, a popular sitcom that first aired on STAR One and Disney+ Hotstar later.
The other star cast included in this comedy sitcom included Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Deven Bhojani, and Rajesh Kumar.
He and Ratna together became a hit jodi onscreen and great friends off-screen.
