Delhi Red Fort Blast: 13 Dead, Amit Shah Calls High-Level Review Meeting
In the latest update of the Red Fort blast yesterday, the death toll has risen to 13. As the investigation progresses, the historical edifice will be closed for the next 3 days.
Moreover, the Lal Quila Metro Station has also been temporarily closed by DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation).
Red Fort Blast: What Happened On Monday
Yesterday, a blast near the Red Fort metro station in Delhi on Monday evening took the lives of eight people, bringing the death toll to 13.
More than 20 people were also fatally injured. With the investigation underway, the historical monument will remain closed to visitors.
According to Delhi police commissioner Satish Golcha, it all began when a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car was parked for 2 hours at a red light near Red Fort minutes before the blast.
While moving slowly on Netaji Subhash Marg, the explosion took place around 6:52 PM, damaging the nearby vehicles.
Witnesses, including shopkeepers present at the scene, revealed that the intensity of the blast was so high that it shattered the windows and shook buildings.
To assess the situation, teams from NSG (National Security Guard), NIA (National Investigation Agency), and the forensic department rushed to the scene and determined what triggered the explosion.
Two men, believed to be the previous owners of the i29 car, were detained by police. Around 6:55 PM, multiple calls alerted the Delhi Fire Department regarding the car blast, after which, a team of seven fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah Holds Security Review Meeting
Reviewing the critical situation in the national capital regarding the blast that claimed 13 people dead, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday decided to conduct a high-level meeting at around 9:30 AM.
According to PTI, those who partake in the meeting included Tapan Deka (Director of the Intelligence Bureau), Satish Golcha (Delhi Police Commissioner), Govind Mohan (Union Home Secretary), and Sadanand Vasant Date (PMG IPS).

Since an investigation is underway for the shocking Delhi blast, a fresh photo of a black masked man driving the Hyundai i20 car with a number plate HR26CE7674 minutes before the explosion ripped the vehicle.
The visuals from the parking lot revealed that the suspect was alone while entering and exiting. The police have obtained the CCTV footage.
