Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Supreme Leader of Iran, is seen as a potential successor.

However, a shocking revelation has surfaced around him. It is regarding his treatment for impotency and his inability to find a wife.

Based on WikiLeaks documents, the Julian Assange-led platform, the 56-year-old made frequent visits to hospitals in the United Kingdom for his treatment.

This report has arrived at such a time when Mojtaba Khamenei is about to succeed after Ali Khamenei's death in US-Israel joint operations.

Mojtaba Khamenei: Iran’s New Supeme Leader

Based on a report released by WikiLeaks and a classified briefing by the State Department to the US Embassy in London in 2008, Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, was forced to visit hospitals to produce more children.

His final stay lasted two months. Although he already has a son named Ali.

Ali Khamenei Family

Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, had six children with his wife, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh.

Among these four are sons - Mostafa Khamenei, Mojtaba Khamenei, Masoud Khamenei, and Meysam Khamenei.

His other two children are daughters named Boshra Khamenei and Hoda Khamenei.

Among his children, Mojtaba Khamenei is drawing more attention because of Iran’s political influence and discussions about the leadership succession after the demise of his father.

Pressure to Father More Children, Mojtaba Visited Hospitals In the UK

Coming back to the reason for which he is in the news, is his family wanted him to father more children, for which he was pressurised to make a fourth visit to the UK hospital for his medical treatment.

As written in the Diplomatic Cable, after his two-month stay, he married his wife, Zahra Haddad Adel, and became the father of a healthy boy, Ali, named after his paternal grandfather.

According to intelligence, he married her in 2004, because of his impotency issues, which forced him to make three visits to a UK hospital.

The document also reveals his visit to London’s two major hospitals, Wellington and Cromwell.

WikiLeaks: Mojtaba’s Wife and Son Were Among 49 Killed in Recent Attacks

As per more revelations from WikiLeaks, Mojtaba’s both wife and son were among the 49 who were killed in the recent strikes.

His wife was the daughter of former Majles Speaker Hadad Adel. Before that, Mojtaba had two temporary marriages.

Ali Khamenei Successor

The race for Ali Khamenei’s succession depends on the decision by the top clerical body of the Assembly of Experts, with one of its members, Ahmad Khatami.

Addressing Iranian state media on Wednesday, the official said voting would be held at the earliest opportunity.

Among the top contenders for the supreme position are

  • Alireza Arafi (among the three members of the interim council, running the nation)
  • Conservative cleric Mohren Araki
  • Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the Islamic Republic's founder, in 1979
