On Wednesday, Modi clocked 4,399 days in a row as Prime Minister, making him the longest-serving elected leader in India’s history.

Jawaharlal Nehru Record: For comparison, Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister, took office in 1947, won the first election in 1951-52, and served until 1964.

The party formed a government in Bengal for the first time since independence, defeating the Trinamool Congress and establishing a presence in a region long led by the Left and Congress, and known as the birthplace of Jana Sangh leader Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
