PM Narendra Modi To Inaugurate Navi Mumbai Airport Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Navi Mumbai to inaugurate a crucial metro corridor, Navi Mumbai Airport, today, on 8th October 2025.
The first fully underground metro line in Mumbai will be opened soon after the inauguration by PM Modi.
Covering 10.99 km, the stretch will cover the distance between Acharya Atre Chowk and Cuffe Parade stations.
During his two-day visit, he will also be meeting UK PM Keir Starmer on 9th October 2025 at 10:00 AM and later at the Jio World Centre and the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest. Let’s know about further details.
PM Modi Visit To Navi Mumbai
On Wednesday, PM Modi will be touring the newly built NMIA around 3:00 PM, followed by inauguration at 3:30 PM. With an estimated budget of Rs 19,650 crore, its development took place under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
In India, NMIA is the largest Greenfield airport project and the second international airport in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Spanning 1,160 hectares, the airport's design has been carefully curated to accommodate approximately 90 million passengers. Additionally, it is designed to stockpile 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo annually.
Having an Automated People Mover (APM) modern feature, NMIA excels in connecting all passenger terminals, and offering features like Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), EV bus services, city-side infrastructure, a 47 MW power supply, and water taxi connectivity.
Inauguration of STEP Program
After NMIA, PM Modi will also inaugurate the Short-Term Employability Program (STEP).
This program will run across 400 Government ITIs, 2,500 training batches (including women batches), 150 technical high schools, and technology courses on Artificial Intelligence, Additive Manufacturing, IoT, Solar, and EV.
It will be launched by Maharashtra's Department of Skill, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Employment.
Global Fintech Fest 2025
PM Modi will also welcome UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to Mumbai on 9th October 2025.
He will present the roadmap of India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the Vision 2035.
At the Jio World Centre, both the political stalwarts will deliver keynote addresses at the 6th edition of GFF (Global Fintech Fest) 2025.
The theme for the GFF 2025 will be 'Empowering Finance for a Better World'. It will convene investors, academicians, policymakers, regulators, and innovators from over 75 nations.
It will feature 70 regulators, 7,500 companies, 400 exhibitors and 800 speakers. In this global event, we will also see international participants, including the Swiss FINMA, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Banque de France, and the Deutsche Bundesbank.
They will highlight the rising status of GFFs as a global forum for financial policy dialogue and innovation.
