US, Denmark To Discuss Greenland Next Week, Says Marco Rubio

Amid rising tensions about the US president's next move to acquire Greenland, the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio wants to discuss this issue with the Danish government next week.

On Tuesday, Donald Trump said that ‘the US military is always an option’ on taking control of the world’s largest island, nestled between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.

Denmark and Greenland Request Meeting with Rubio Over US Statements on Greenland

According to Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the main objective behind the meeting between the governments of Denmark and Greenland, and Rubio is to resolve the issue.

Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzdeldt explained in her Facebook post that the talks with Marco are focused on the United States' strong commitment to control Greenland.
