France vs Morocco Quarterfinal: Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty in the first half, but he still played a key role as France beat Morocco 2-0 in the Round of 16 at Boston Stadium. 

With this win, France moves on to their third straight FIFA World Cup semi-final.

After missing the penalty, Mbappe scored his eighth goal of the 2026 World Cup and later assisted Ousmane Dembele for his fifth.

Mbappe put France ahead around the 60th minute with a curling shot into the far corner. Shortly after, he set up Ousmane Dembele with a quick pass.

France vs Morocco Quarterfinal: With this match, Mbappe became the first French player to reach at least 100 goal contributions for the national team, with 64 goals and 35 assists. 

Dembele also joined a select group, becoming only the third French player to score five goals in a single World Cup, after Mbappe and Just Fontaine. 

Didier Deschamps’ team controlled the rest of the match and secured a spot in their third straight World Cup semi-final.

France won the tournament in 2018 and finished second to Argentina in 2022. “Mbappe, there’s no issue. 

Deschamps noted that the player never doubts himself, even though he had missed a chance prior to scoring. 

He added that the team was exactly where they wanted to be, stating they would focus on recovering well before finding out who their next opponent would be.
