US striker Folarin Balogun received a straight red card for a challenge during the win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which meant an automatic one-match suspension.

Michael Olise’s Yellow Card: After strong political pressure, including three calls from US President Donald Trump to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA lifted the ban, allowing Balogun to play in the next round against Belgium.
This decision was heavily criticised by UEFA and the Belgian FA, who said FIFA had crossed a "red line" for the tournament’s fairness.
French team officials stated that their appeal was completely separate and not a reaction to the American case.
Still, the FFF hoped FIFA’s recent willingness to review decisions would apply, especially since video evidence supported Olise.

FIFA Yellow Card Rules
A yellow card is a warning given to soccer players who break the rules.
Referees might show a yellow card for a rough foul, time-wasting, arguing with officials, or any other behaviour they deem unacceptable.
When a player gets a yellow card, he can keep playing, but the warning stays on his record.
If he receives another yellow card, the penalty becomes more serious. Coaches, substitutes, and people on the bench can also get yellow cards.
If a player receives a second yellow card in a game, he must leave the field immediately. His team must finish the match with only 10 players.
If a player is sent off, he cannot play in the next match, regardless of the round. The team can still have 11 players, but the suspended player cannot take part.
This year, the World Cup grew from 32 to 48 teams, adding another round of games.
With more matches, it became harder for players to avoid suspension because there were more chances to get a yellow card.
To help with this, FIFA introduced a new system.
Now, yellow cards are cleared twice during the tournament instead of just once.
If a player has a yellow card at the end of the group stage, he starts the knockout round with a clean record.
The same thing happens after the quarterfinals, so no one enters the semifinals with a yellow card still on their record.
If a player gets two yellow cards before either of those reset points, he still has to miss the next game as a suspension.
