Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma ODI Return: Kohli and Rohit Back for England ODI Series
Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma ODI Return: After losing two T20I matches in a row to England, India enters the final part of their UK tour with more grounded expectations.
The team struggled in the first seven games, but the next three are important as they get ready for the ODI World Cup.
Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma ODI Return: Shubman Gill Takes the Reins as Shreyas Iyer Seeks ODI Redemption Against England
Shreyas Iyer hopes to bounce back and keep his spot in the ODI squad after a difficult start as captain.
He might feel a bit more at ease now that he is not leading the team against a strong England side.
Shubman Gill Captaincy: Shubman Gill will lead India after winning his first ODI series as captain against Afghanistan. That three-match series had its moments, like Gurnoor Brar’s rise.
This time, India faces a tougher test against England’s strong batting lineup. England has won the last four meetings between the teams.
Now, key players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah are back, hoping to lift the team’s spirits after a tough 0-7 run in the UK over the past two weeks.

Jasprit Bumrah Comeback
Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma ODI Return: Bumrah has recovered from his hamstring injury and is back in the squad.
He was seen talking with captain Shubman Gill during practice, and Gill later said they discussed player selections for the ODI World Cup.
Before the first ODI in Birmingham, Gill mentioned the team is also looking at possible lineups for next year’s South Africa tour and thinking about chances for players who are not currently in the squad.
The World Cup will take place in South Africa next year.
All eyes will be on Jasprit Bumrah as he makes his first ODI appearance since the 2023 World Cup final.
His comeback is a big boost for India’s bowlers, who had a tough time against England’s aggressive batting in the T20Is.
Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma Comeback
India senior players Kohli and Rohit are also back at the top of the order. Bumrah might not always get attention before the match, but he usually makes a difference once he starts bowling.
India will be without Hardik Pandya, who is still injured and not on this tour. Fast bowler Harshit Rana, once seen as a future World Cup player, is also out with a hamstring injury.
Short on bowling resources, India may turn to part-timers Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar to finish the 50 overs.
World Cup Glory is the Ultimate Goal: Shubman Gill Ahead of England ODI Series
Virat Kohli Rohit Sharma ODI Return: The captain Shubman Gill said in his press conference that the team has no major worries and will use these matches to test as many players as possible for next year’s ODI World Cup.
He also said that winning the World Cup, cricket’s top prize, is his main goal.
The India captain also said he wants to see more multilateral series, which he finds more exciting than playing just one team at a time.
He feels the team is settled and has no big worries, but players who do not play much need more chances.
Gill pointed out that moving from a three-match ODI series to an 11-match World Cup is a big step.
He shared that he grew up watching 50-over cricket and still sees the ODI World Cup as the most important title.
He does not want the format shortened to 40 overs and hopes the triangular series will return. England is feeling confident and will give Josh Tongue his debut against India.
Tongue and Jofra Archer rattled India's batters with short balls in the T20Is. Whether England repeats that ploy in the ODIs will be worth watching.

India Tour of England 2026: Key Players
1. Virat Kohli | India
Virat Kohli has returned to the field for his first match after recovering from a hamstring injury.
His performance at No. 3 could be important for India.
Fans are excited to see if he can keep up the fast scoring he showed before last season's IPL.
2. Harry Brook | England
India struggled after a strong showing in the 5th T20I.
Brook has already proven his talent in T20Is, though there is room for him to grow in ODIs.
If he teams up with the dependable Joe Root, their batting lineup could become even more powerful.
3. Gurnoor Brar | India
If Gurnoor Brar can challenge batters with his bounce in India, just think how effective he might be in England.
He is tall, aggressive, and bowls with real power.
With the ball moving in the powerplay overs during the T20Is, this tour could be a great opportunity for him to take more wickets.
4. Liam Dawson | England
It’s not often that an English spinner does better than India’s.
In the T20I series, India’s spinners gave up over 10 runs per over, but Dawson kept his economy rate down to just 8.4.
Alongside Adil Rashid and Will Jacks, Dawson could be important in the middle overs.
