Why Netflix Drops Bid for Warner Bros., Making Way for Paramount & Skydance?

Earlier, there was news about Netflix’s announcement of a major $72 billion deal to purchase Warner Bros, one of the oldest and most popular studios in Hollywood.

​Well, according to the latest news update, the global streaming platform has backed off its plan to bid for Warner Bros.

​This has cleared the way for Paramount and Skydance to step ahead with their bid.

Netflix Drops Bid

According to Warner Bros, it finds Paramount’s latest offer more convincing. Netflix, on the other hand, did not raise its prices, as it no longer finds the deal financially worthwhile.

Paramount Raises Bid For Warner Bros.

Paramount, which recently increased its bid, is offering more money per share. This helped in winning the board's support.

​If the deal gets approved, Paramount would then monitor major assets, including films, TV networks, and even CNN, a move aimed at shaping Hollywood.

Paramount-Warner Bros. Merger Yet To Finalise

As of now, the deal is not finalised, as it still needs approval from the United States and European regulators.

​According to California’s Attorney General, it will closely examine the deal. Upon receiving clearance, Paramount will combine Warner Bros.' streaming and media businesses with its brands, CBS and Nickelodeon.
