Vijay Deverakonda Backlash: Actor Vijay Deverakonda is coming in for some criticism over his reaction to the story of how his wife Rashmika Mandanna proposed to him. In a new promo for Koffee with Karan Season 9, Rashmika states that she pursued Vijay for a year and proposed to him on several occasions before he agreed.

A number of people on social media didn't like Vijay's response to this. Some felt that he put Rashmika on the spot by talking about it on the show. The promo kicks off with Karan Johar calling them a 'blockbuster couple' and then going straight to Vijay with the question about the proposal.

Vijay Deverakonda Backlash: Rashmika remembered asking Vijay about marriage, and Vijay said she had asked him a hundred times. When Karan asked if it was really that many, Rashmika explained she had asked over the span of a year. Vijay then shared his side, saying he is not an a**hole, during their conversation about marriage. Many people online disliked the exchange and criticised Vijay's response, saying it made Rashmika look more invested in the relationship.

Rashmika Mandana Proposal Story Backlash: A user on X asked if Rashmika actually did propose 100 times and wondered why he'd go on about it at all if that was the case. They said they didn't understand his attitude at all and that it seemed like he was trying to put her down. Also noted that Rashmika is actually more successful than him.

Vijay Deverakonda Backlash: Another user took issue with Vijay behaving as if marrying Rashmika was a favour to her when clearly, she seems very keen on him. The biggest turn off was the way he'd signed the wedding invite with his name and hers in tiny brackets. A third user also took issue with Vijay and said their dislike for him has actually increased over time. They felt he made a number of very unpleasant comments and that Rashmika was just unfortunate to have fallen for his self-absorbed nature.

They did admit that there can be a certain appeal to a confident person, at least initially, but that that appeal can certainly wane. They wondered if the imbalance of feeling could be a problem in a relationship. They acknowledged that loving someone more than you love them can be quite intense, but questioned what would happen if the other person started to take it for granted. They drew a comparison with the Ranbir/Alia exchange on the chat show and another user went so far as to say that seeing Ranbir and Alia together made the North Indians very uncomfortable and that they were now determined to try and achieve a similar effect in the South.

Comparison with Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco

Vijay Deverakonda Backlash: Someone who posted the clip have compared the couple to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco (the "Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco of Tollywood"). He feels this episode has the potential to be as controversial as the Deepika and Ranveer episode.

User Suggests Newly Married Couple to Steer Clear of Koffee with Karan Show

The user says this Koffee with Karan episode could be another Deepika-Ranveer disaster in the making and has advised newly married couples to steer clear of the show. The same person went on to say that Vijay's reply made it sound as if he'd married Rashmika as a favour. They were of the opinion that he would have made a different decision had Liger been a hit at the box office.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali Movie Review

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's film Ranabaali unfortunately fails to meet audience expectations, as it lacks execution and becomes a highly disappointing cinematic experience. Even though the plot is interesting, set in the British period and showing the daily struggles of Rayalaseema people, the film falls short.

The film falls short because of its poor narration, slow and uneven pacing, and nothing new to offer the audience. Vijay plays the main character, a Telugu man who stands up to the British to fight for his people. Rashmika, his wife, plays Jayamma, and Arnold Vosloo plays the cruel British officer, Sir Theodore Hector.
