When the final lap started, Australia’s Ky Robinson pulled ahead to go for gold. Gulveer responded with a strong sprint in the last 400 metres, finishing in 27:49.78 to take silver.

Harjinder Kaur Silver Medal: India continued its strong performance in weightlifting at the SEC Centre. Harjinder Kaur, who won bronze at Birmingham 2022, improved to take silver in the women’s 69kg category.

She lifted a total of 221kg, with a 101kg snatch and a crucial 120kg clean and jerk under pressure.

Her consistent effort gave India its seventh weightlifting medal at the Glasgow Games, highlighting the sport’s importance for the country.

Priya Ghanghas faced a challenging local crowd while fighting Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell.

She kept her composure and controlled the match with strong body shots and good movement, winning by a clear decision and securing a place on the podium.

Third-seeded Preeti Pawar continued her steady run in the bantamweight bracket, using combination punches and quick footwork to defeat her quarter-final opponent and reach the final. There were a few setbacks in the evening session.

In the women’s 65kg quarter-final, Parveen Hooda lost by unanimous decision to England’s top seed Sacha Hickey.

Soon after, Kapil Pokhariya was defeated 5-0 by Scotland’s Robert McNulty in the men’s 90kg event.

Srihari Nataraj made it to the semi-finals in the men’s 100m backstroke, finishing his heat in 55.52 seconds.

High Jump

Pooja Singh, who set a new national record earlier this year, placed eighth in the women’s high jump final with a jump of 1.77m.
The event was delayed for an hour because of heavy rain. After the break, Singh was unable to clear 1.82m in her three attempts.

Lawn Bowls

Nayanmoni Saikia, who is an experienced bowler, lost to Amy Williams from Wales in the Section C women's singles game, the final scores being 8-7 and 10-1.

Sprint Heats

Vishal TK performed well in the men’s 400m heats, finishing Heat 6 and qualifying for the semi-finals.
His teammate Rajesh Ramesh came in third in his heat and did not move on.
