Shriya Saran: Drishyam 3 Hindi is Different from the Malayalam Version
As the Drishyam chapter is all set for its final ending, actress Shriya Saran expressed her views on the thriller-mystery movie, calling it an emotional journey.
Drishyam 3 Will Be The Final Chapter: Shriya Saran
During her conversation with the media channel, she discussed her return to the popular franchise. Speaking about her role as Nandini Salgaonkar, wife of Vijay Salgaonkar, played by Ajay Devgn in the Drishyam series, she felt it was very exciting.
Additionally, Shriya said the script is well-crafted and engaging. She revealed that Drishyam 3 will mark the end of the film.
With film shooting underway, Shriya called it an emotional journey because, when she watched the film, she realised the first part had been shot ten years ago.
After that, it proposed further changes. According to her, what sets Drishyam 3 apart from its prequels is its unique narrative structure within the mystery genre.
A Mystery Franchise With Three Parts
Shriya said she does not remember a mystery movie having three parts, except for Drishyam.
According to her, there have been drama franchises, but watching a mystery movie where the whole story revolves around a minor incident and its follow-ups is hard to stomach.
Hinting at the movie, she said the third and final installment will be more engaging than its predecessors.
No Similarity Between Drishyam and the Malayalam Version
Coming to the similarity between the story of Drishyam and the Malayalam version, Shriya pointed out that there is none in the Drishyam universe, which has evolved into different languages.
Note that in the Malayalam version, the South Indian actor Mohanlal stars in the lead role. The actress said that, like the previous parts, Drishyam 3 has no similarity to the Malayalam version.
With Drishyam 3 marking the end of the mystery franchise, the movie has set new standards for mystery thrillers in Bollywood cinema.

Akshaye Khanna’s Exit From Mystery-Thriller: What Was The Reason?
The cast of the Drishyam franchise included Akshaye Khanna as IG Tarun Ahlawat. He was in the second part of the movie.
Well, it was expected that he would reprise his role in the third installment, but he walked out over his differences with the character's look and role.
It is said that the Dhurandhar actor demanded a wig for his character, which the filmmakers didn’t approve of.
According to them, it would break the continuity of his character’s look. Hence, this was one of the reasons for Akshaye’s exit.
In Drishyam 2, he appeared bald for his character of IG Tarun Ahlawat.
When Will Drishyam 3 Release?
The much-awaited mystery-thriller Drishyam 3 is set to release on October 2, 2026. It will star Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, Shriya Saran as his wife, Nandini Salgaonkar, and the rest of the cast in the same roles.
Jaideep Ahlawat joins the cast, replacing Akshaye Khanna. The specific role he will play in the mystery flick has not been disclosed.
