Neha Bhasin slams Bhumi Pednekar: Bhumi Pednekar is still being criticised for her comments on the language used by some protesters when addressing Prime Minister Modi at the CJP-led NEET-UG 2026 protest.

Since her video, in which she encouraged young people to speak out respectfully, went viral, a number of celebrities have questioned why attention was focused on the protesters' words rather than on the allegations of police misconduct that took place during the July 20 Sansad March.

Neha Bhasin has openly criticised Bhumi's position, and Dia Mirza has likewise expressed her view.

Dia stated that greater attention should be given to issues such as police brutality, the harassment of women protesters, and legal action being taken against young demonstrators.

Neha Bhasin stated on social media that she would have held the Prime Minister in greater respect if there had been the same level of attention given to the police's behaviour during the protests.

She pointed out that although people were complaining about the use of abusive language, there was no accountability in the case of police officers who were accused of touching women protesters in an inappropriate manner.

Neha Bhasin slams Bhumi Pednekar: Citing the Prime Minister's own description of the protesters as "kids", Neha said that the police should protect citizens and observe the law and asked why their actions had not been looked into.

She also criticised Bhumi Pednekar, claiming that the actor appeared "scripted" both in the episode of Lock Upp and in her remarks about the protests.

Neha further added that if a person lacks strong beliefs, it is better for them to remain silent.

Neha Bhasin Latest News: Recently, Neha took part in the Judgment Day episode of Lock Upp, appearing with Huma Qureshi as Janta Ki Awaaz. The reality programme is presented by Farah Khan and Riteish.

Actor Dia Mirza also backed a social media post which criticised Bhumi's comments. Dia stated that the larger issues behind the protests should not be ignored.

She said the focus should remain on the allegations of police brutality, online harassment and doxxing of women and girls who had spoken out, and on what she referred to as illegal FIRs filed against underage girls.

She argued that these issues were more important than the discussion about the language used in the protests.

Actor Saba Azad also responded to the same post, joining the ongoing debate on social media.

She also questioned whether people would use such language with the elderly members of their families and said that it is not acceptable to use abusive language.

Bhumi stated that abusive language has no place in India's culture and values, which she referred to as the nation's backbone.

She maintained that true progress is achieved when people discuss both the strengths and the problems of the situation in a respectful manner.

According to her, abandoning these values would damage constructive dialogue and reduce the chances of achieving meaningful change.

Her remarks were made during the nationwide protests concerning the leak of the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper.

The movement, which began because of the leak, later developed into a youth-driven movement calling for accountability and major education reforms.

NEET Paper Leak Protests: On July 20, the protests grew more intense as the police attacked the demonstrators who were marching towards Parliament, an action that led to widespread anger.

Five days afterwards, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, resigned.

During the course of the protests, videos showing some of the protesters using abusive language towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi were widely circulated online.

The minister later gave a video response in which he stated that abuse never resolves problems and that he would rather forgive what he referred to as "misguided children" than punish them.

Bhumi Pednekar also commented on the abusive language directed at the Prime Minister.

However, many people criticised her for not mentioning the allegations of police brutality and the reports of women protesters being harassed during the crackdown on July 20.

Bhumi Pednekar Latest News: Upcoming Film of Bhumi Pednekar

Bhumi Pednekar’s next project is the romantic comedy Adhure Hum Adhure Tum, in which she stars alongside Imran Khan, who is returning to the screen after a long break.

The film is set to release on Netflix later this year. Bhumi was recently seen in the crime thriller series Daldal, which premiered on Prime Video on January 30, 2026.
