Last year, in an interview with Curly Tales, Dutt reflected on an old photo with Salman and said that it was likely from the time of Saajan.

Salman Khan Latest News: Actor Next To Be Seen In Maatrubhumi

Salman’s next film, Maatrubhumi, is a war drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash.

Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, previously called the Battle of Galwan, has been delayed due to production and creative issues.

The Salman Khan-starrer was first set to release on April 17, 2026. According to reports, the team needs extra time for post-production and more filming.

Salman Khan also decided not to rush the project, choosing to delay it to ensure better quality.

The film’s title was changed earlier this year. Director Apoorva Lakhia said the team had registered both Battle of Galwan and Maatrubhumi at the start, but later felt that the new title better conveyed the emotional side of the story than focusing solely on the war.

Reports also say the filmmakers wanted to avoid political issues related to the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between India and China.

Another reason for the delay was the death of actor-singer Prashant Tamang, who had already filmed important scenes.

After he passed away, several parts had to be filmed again, which changed the production schedule.

Sanjay Dutt To Return as ‘Khalnayak’

Sanjay Dutt has had a busy year, with roles in films like Raja Shivaji, Aakhri Sawal, and Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

He is now getting ready for Khalnayak Returns, the sequel to his 1993 cult classic.

Sanjay Dutt will return as Ballu, the famous anti-hero from the 1993 cult film Khal Nayak. On Friday, he announced his new movie, Khalnayak Returns, and said it will offer a new take on the original story.

At an event in Mumbai on Friday, Sanjay said his company, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, teamed up with Aksha Kamboj's Aspect Entertainment to get the sequel rights from Subhash Ghai and Mukta Arts.

The original Khal Nayak starred Sanjay, Jackie Shroff, and Madhuri Dixit.

Media reported that a short teaser for Khalnayak Returns was shown at the event. In the teaser, Sanjay Dutt appears as Ballu, looking even tougher than before.

At the event, Sanjay thanked Subhash Ghai, who directed and produced the original Khal Nayak.

He called Ghai a legend and a master entertainer, and confirmed that Ghai will be part of Khalnayak Returns.

Sanjay said he got the idea for the sequel while he was in jail for the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

He asked his fellow inmates if they wanted a sequel, and all 4,000 said yes. Sanjay then invited each inmate to write a one-page note with their ideas, and it took him a long time to read them all.

After he was released on parole, he gave the notes to Subhash Ghai, who read them and agreed to make the film.

Ghai praised the idea for the sequel and said the project came from the passion and long-held wish of Sanjay Dutt and his wife, Maanyata Dutt, to make this film.

Ghai also said he believes Khalnayak Returns will be even better than the original and that he will support the team whenever needed.
