According to a media report, the notices were sent on Friday, August 14. The actors must explain their roles in the ad and their connection to the brand.

The agency referred to a Maharashtra government order that bans the manufacture, storage, transport, distribution, and sale of the product in the state for one year, starting July 13, 2026.

Vimal Elaichi FDA Notice: Ajay Devgn got the notice at his home in Juhu, and Shah Rukh Khan received his at Mannat in Bandra. Tiger Shroff was notified through his production company, Tiger Shroff Productions LLP.

Vimal Elaichi FDA Notice: These notices are part of a broader campaign by the Maharashtra FDA, which is inspecting and seizing products across the state due to food safety concerns.

Akshay Kumar Involvement in Vimal Advertisement
The same brand was earlier involved in a controversy with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar.
In 2022, Kumar publicly apologised after facing strong criticism for appearing in an ad for the brand with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn.
At the time, Kumar said in a social media post that he wanted to apologise to all his fans and well-wishers, and that their reactions in recent days had deeply affected him.
Kumar decided to donate his entire endorsement fee to charity.
He admitted that the brand might continue to run the ads for as long as his contract allows, but promised to be more careful with future endorsements. He said he hoped to always have his supporters’ love and good wishes.
Tobacco Surrogate Advertisement: Actors May Face Up to ₹10 Lakh Fine as FDA Probes Pan Masala Ad
Vimal Elaichi FDA Notice: The FDA has launched its first investigation into surrogate advertising.
The agency says the ad's appearance, its message, the product name, and the market context all raise concerns that it could indirectly promote a banned tobacco product.
All three actors in the ad served as brand endorsers.
Maharashtra has banned gutkha and pan masala containing tobacco or nicotine since 2012. Under Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, the Maharashtra FDA has taken strong steps against the sale and promotion of tobacco.
The FDA has also focused on gutkha and pan masala with tobacco or nicotine, working with the police to use the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in cases involving organised groups selling these banned products.
The agency referred to the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, which restricts misleading food ads.
It also mentioned Section 53, which allows a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh for anyone involved in publishing a misleading food ad.
The FDA has requested full copies of endorsement contracts, campaign briefs, payment details, and proof of due diligence.
