Court Registers Dhirendra Shastri Case, Sets Next Hearing for 14th December
Dhirendra Shastri Controversy: The court registered the case and set the next hearing for December 14. This came a day after Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav asked organisers and sponsors of religious events to avoid controversial preachers.
In response, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary quoted a couplet from the Ramcharitmanas, saying that people with questionable conduct should not preach to others. He apologised for his remarks on November 3.
Dhirendra Shastri News | Bagheshwar Dham Leader’s Past Remarks Might Affect Upcoming UP Polls
Dhirendra Shastri Controversy: If the incident turns into a political issue, it could affect next year's Uttar Pradesh elections. Shastri’s earlier statements have influenced Yadav politics in both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav has been linked to identity politics during his three years in office. He has faced accusations of favouring Yadav officials in postings and appointments, which some people view as a political strategy to support the community.
Dhirendra Shastri Case Over Lord Krishna Comments | Akhilesh Yadav Slams Shastri, Targets MP CM Mohan Yadav
Dhirendra Shastri Controversy: Samajwadi Party chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav said Shastri's comment on Lord Krishna would have embarrassed Mohan Yadav. He asked why the Sanatanis were so upset about Dhirendra Shastri's comments on Lord Krishna.
Akhilesh pointed out that the MP CM, being a Yadav himself, should have been offended. He took issue with the government's 'bulldozer' approach which he claims is only being used against those who have offended the Hindu sensibilities.
The Ram Janmabhoomi movement has been a big issue for the BJP, but UP is also home to Vrindavan and Mathura which are two other very significant places associated with Lord Krishna. Shastri's middle name is Krishna. Mohan Yadav has not yet got back to Shastri on that.
All the political parties respect the godman; he is clearly seen as being closer to the BJP. Last year PM Modi went to Shastri's Bageshwar Dham in the Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh to open a hospital which the godman had established.
