Kathmandu to Istanbul turkey's airline Emergency landing
A Turkey-based airline flying from Kathmandu to Istanbul made an emergency landing at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport around 2:50 PM.
This worried the 11 crew and 236 passengers. The Turkish Airlines 727 was flying as planned when the crew noticed a problem.
As a safety step, the pilots ended the long flight and landed safely.
Technical Problem Forces Kathmandu–Istanbul Flight to Land Early
After taking off from Kathmandu, the crew suspected the right engine had caught fire, triggering an alert at Tribhuvan International Airport. The pilot immediately shut off the right engine.
Following this, the pilot contacted Kolkata Air Traffic Control (ATC) to report the emergency and request an immediate landing.
Kolkata airport authorities then activated all emergency procedures and called in fire tenders upon receiving the pilot's request.
Despite flying with one engine for some time, airport officials stated that the plane landed safely.
After landing, passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
Flight Makes Emergency Landing to Avoid Risk on Long Journey
The crew took this decision to prevent problems during the long trip. This is because the flight from Kathmandu to Istanbul is long.
Hence, the pilot landed the flight in Kolkata Airport at 2:50 PM instead of returning to Kathmandu.
At that time, this was the safest choice because it was close by.
Crew Applauded for Quick Action After Emergency Landing
Engineers inspected the plane after it was moved to a safe area.
Passengers were provided with assistance, and the airline arranged an alternative flight or accommodation.
Authorities appreciated the crew for their prompt and responsible actions, highlighting passenger safety as the top priority in such a crucial situation.
