No-Confidence Motion Against Om Birla: Opposition Accuses Speaker of Favouring the Ruling Party
Senior Opposition leaders have accused the Lok Sabha Speaker of favouring the ruling party to dominate House proceedings and overlooking their concerns.
They criticised him for suppressing their voices and ignoring the key issues raised by Opposition MPs. Also, they are not even given ample time for discussion.
Key National Issues Either Rejected or Delayed, Says Opposition
According to opposition leaders, despite submitting multiple notices for debates on essential national issues, they were either rejected or delayed.
They also accused the Speaker of tolerating disruptions when it benefits the ruling party and taking strict action against the opposition members.
One Opposition leader stated, ‘Parliament is meant for discussion and debate, but it is no longer operating in a balanced way.’
No-Confidence Motion Against Speaker Expected Soon, Unlikely to Pass
A no-confidence motion is likely to be submitted in the coming days. Once accepted, it will result in a discussion in the Lok Sabha.
These members will debate on the Speaker's role and conduct. However, with the majority of the ruling alliance in the House, the motion is hardly expected to pass.
