NDA Clinches Bihar Victory, Mahagathbandhan Falls Short
On Friday, the NDA clinched victory in the Bihar Assembly election 2025 with 202 seats, outperforming its opponents and retaining its mandate. Leaving Mahagathbandhan behind, the BJP led with 89 seats, followed by Nitish Kumar's JD(U) with 85.
The alliance between the RJD and Congress also faced a heavy setback, and Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj Party failed to win even a single seat, despite its extensive campaign.
PM Modi’s Strong Message Following Bihar Win
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the BJP headquarters on Friday, he called the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) victory of democracy and true social justice, and the end of Jungle Raj.
He further stated that the landslide win will lead him to the same triumph in West Bengal next year.
While celebrating the NDA’s victory at party headquarters, the Indian Prime Minister commented on the switch from ‘tustikaran’ (appeasement) to ‘santushtikaran’ (satisfaction), hinting at people's dismissal of Congress's dirty politics.
Relating NDA's Bihar victory to his MY formula (Mahila and Youth), he meant that this time, the people of Bihar voted for development and prosperity, which reflected record-breaking numbers.

While the NDA easily sailed with a 122 significant mark out of 202 seats, the Mahagathbandhan fell short with only 34 seats, RJD (25), Congress (6), CPI (ML) Liberation, and CPI (M) with two and one seats.

Hours after the defeat of the Mahagathbandhan per the Bihar Assembly election results on Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his gratitude to the voters for supporting the alliance.
However, he also said that the contest was unfair from the start, and he will continue fighting to protect the Constitution and democracy.
Besides Rahul Gandhi, other Congress leaders also expressed their disagreements with the Bihar election results. They called it ‘unexpected’ and ‘unacceptable’.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram disagreed with the numbers, calling them seriously disappointing, and demanded a thorough review of them.
He emphasised the need for a serious review of what went wrong, and added that since he was not part of the campaign, he could only rely on discussion with his colleagues.

Chirag Paswan, son of the late Ram Vilas Paswan, congratulated Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the morning.
He appreciated Kumar for being supportive of their candidates during elections. Speaking on NDA's victory, he said it all became possible with the combined efforts of allies, who contributed to their large majority.
In the Bihar election results, Lok Janshakti Party secured 19 seats, a significant rise from the 2020 election results.
