The case involves the death of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur, South 24 Parganas district, West Bengal.
Her body was found in the Surjyapur Haat area on Sunday, a day after she was reported missing.
Three Accused Arrested: The incident sparked protests in the area, with residents demanding that those responsible be arrested. Three people were later arrested by police in connection with the case.

Police said the final cause and details of death will be known after forensic and viscera tests are completed.

Minor Girl Murder Case: CM Adhikari Directs DGP to Probe Police Response After Minor’s Death
After the incident was reported, CM Suvendu Adhikari held a virtual meeting with police officials across the state, including all station officers.
He emphasised the need to follow the law and proper procedures, according to the media.
He said he met online with all the officers-in-charge in the state and told them to prevent such incidents by strictly following the law, guidelines, and official instructions.
Prabhas Mondal Police Encounter: Before making his statement, the Chief Minister asked for a report on how police responded after the victim's family contacted them.
He said the girl's parents filed a missing person complaint at the Baruipur police station at 11:50 pm on Saturday, several hours after she went missing.
He asked the Director General of Police to submit a report within 72 hours. He added that if the investigation finds any police negligence after the complaint, strict action will follow.

A few hours later, the situation grew more tense after the girl's body was found, and the mob killed a man named Indrajit Mondal on suspicion of his involvement in the crime.
Police later said that he was not involved in the rape-murder case.
Since then, police have arrested three people for the lynching and formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the rape-murder case.
As public anger grew, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari asked the Director General of Police, Sidd Nath Gupta, to submit a report on the case within 72 hours.
He also said strict action would be taken if any negligence was found during the investigation.
CM Reviews Progress in Minor’s Murder Case; Orders 72-Hour Deadline for DGP Report
The chief minister met the victim's family and reviewed the investigation’s progress as political and public attention increased.
After meeting the victim's family at the South 24 Parganas SP's office, Adhikari told reporters that an initial analysis was complete.
He ordered the DGP to submit a full report within 72 hours and promised strict action based on the results.

Adhikari warned that any delay or negligence by officials, even minor, after the initial complaint would lead to swift action.
He said that according to the police investigation so far, Indrajit Mondal, who was killed by the mob, was innocent. He promised justice for Mondal's family.
He also said that about 200 people who damaged public property, police vehicles, and railway tracks during the protests had been identified and would be arrested.
Those involved in lynching Indrajit Mondal would be charged with murder.
CM Visits Baruipur Families and Injured Cops; Vows Strict Action and New Police Outpost
Prabhas Mondal Police Encounter: The chief minister added that the victim's family had requested a police outpost at Surjyapur, and he promised to open it during his next visit to Baruipur.
He also said the family had asked for compensation and other help, which would be announced after he meets both families again within a week.
He claimed that people linked to opposition parties and "radical and anti-national forces" started the violence, and said investigators had collected evidence, including call recordings, against those responsible.
Later that day, Adhikari visited police officers injured during the violence and assured them of full support from the state administration.
The families of both the deceased girl and Indrajit Mondal said they were satisfied with the chief minister's assurances and commitment to justice.
Mother Rejects Body of Baruipur Rape-Murder Accused Killed in Encounter
Killed during an encounter, the accused Prabhas Mondal's parents have refused to claim his body, saying his death was not for a just cause.
His mother, Sandhya Mondal, said her son received what he deserved and that she does not want to take part in any more formalities.
In an interview with a news agency, she said her son was punished for his actions and that she would not accept his body or bring it home.
She explained that he had not done anything good, deserved what happened, and she did not object to what was done with his remains.
She also chose not to go to the hospital. When two policemen came to inform her about her son's death, she stayed home to care for her sick husband. She told the officers to do what they thought was best.
