In an interview with the media, Putin straightaway denied Russia's role in initiating the Ukraine war

According to him, under the Western influence, Ukraine blamed Russia and dragged it into the four-year-long conflict.

Putin further stated that Russia had made every effort to resolve the issue through peaceful means, but when it failed, the country had to intervene in the war.

He, in fact, blamed Ukraine for initiating violence against the people of the Donbas region.
