US Iran War Latest Update: Trump Rejects Iran’s Peace Proposal

Peace talks rejected:  Iran sent a proposal for talks through Pakistani mediators, hoping to ease tensions and affect US policy. Trump turned down the offer, saying Iran’s leaders are divided and just seeking concessions.

Talks are still happening, and the ceasefire has been held for three weeks. Trump said the war is over. The White House informed Congress that fighting with Iran has stopped, but US troops are still in the region.

Trump called the War Powers Resolution “unconstitutional” after Congress missed the May 1 deadline to approve military action. Lawmakers left Washington after the Senate rejected a Democratic effort to end the war for the sixth time.

US–Iran tensions: Trump sent a letter to Congress, suggesting the conflict may not be over. According to him, despite successful operations against the Iranian regime, and sustained efforts to bring lasting peace, Iran is still a danger to the US and its Armed Forces.

The US President also mentioned the importance of uranium enrichment in Western policy debates.

Comments from Foreign Minister Araqhchi show that Iran continues to influence US diplomatic positions and defense planning.

Donald Trump Reaction: Calls Tehran Leadership ‘Fractured’

Turning down Iran’s latest proposal to end the war, presented on Friday, Donald Trump said the conflict does not seem to have an imminent end. He also added that the US will not be leaving too early, as it would face the same problem again in a few years.

He blamed Tehran's "fractured leadership" for not offering the "kind of deal that we have to have." Trump said, "It's a very disjointed leadership. They all want to make a deal, but they're all messed up."

The proposal was rejected almost immediately after mediator Pakistan delivered it. Pakistan had received the proposal from Iran on Thursday night.

Ceasefire Negotiations Between the US and Iran Remains Fragile

The ceasefire between the United States and Iran seems to still be on hold, as both nations are putting the blame on each other for breaking the deal.

Although the ongoing conflict in Iran has ceased, tensions remain high in the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway for global oil and gas trade.

In such a situation, Trump suggested two options: Either to attack and end it for good or to make a deal.

US Iran War Latest Update: On Friday, Abbas Araqhchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, had a discussion with leaders of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iraq, and Qatar to make them aware of Iran’s efforts to put an end to the war.

Pakistan mediation: There had been two rounds of talks in Pakistan that failed to bring out an agreement. According to the Vice President of the United States, JD Vance, no progress could be seen despite the US efforts in bringing the ‘best possible offer’ in the first round.

In the second round, Trump stated that there would be no more 18-hour flights for US envoys, as Iran dismissed direct talks, clearing the way for the continuation of the deadlock.
