About Ameesha Patel: A Brief Flashback of the Gadar Actress's Career

  • Ameesha Patel is an Indian actress who debuted with the blockbuster Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in 2000.
  • This achievement was indeed special for her, as she did not have any filmy background; her father, Amit Patel, is a businessman, and her mother, Asha Patel, is a homemaker.
  • The film marked the debuts of Ameesha and Hrithik Roshan, who became overnight sensations.
  • After KNPH, Ameesha starred opposite Sunny Deol in Gadar in 2001, another blockbuster.
  • Despite these two major hits, her career then nosedived due to her choices and personal turmoil with her parents and director Vikram Bhatt.
  • Later on she dropped her image of an innocent girl to a sexier version with the song Lazy Lamhe in the 2008 film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. The movie starred Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee in key roles.
  • Following this downturn, the success of Humraaz, starring Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, proved a big relief for Ameesha, who was still tagged as a flop actress.
  • Even though there were films of hers that did well at the box office, like Race 2 (2013), Mangal Pandey (2005), Bhool Bhulaiya (2007), and Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai (2006), she was not the sole person to take credit for their success. These films worked because of her co-actors.
  • At 50, she is striving to sustain her presence on the big screen and will reprise her role as Sakeena in the third instalment of the Gadar franchise, starring Sunny Deol.
