While fans look forward to seeing Tamil Nadu CM Vijay on screen for the last time, his son, Jason Sanjay, is preparing to direct his first film, Sigma, in Tamil.

NDTV also reports that Jason plans to begin his acting career soon.

Sources told NDTV that talks about the project are ongoing, and GKM Tamil Kumaran will be the producer.

Jason Sanjay Reveals How Vijay Reacted to His Film Journey

Jason Sanjay, the son of actors Vijay and Sangeetha, recently talked about why he decided to become a filmmaker.

In a recent interview with Ananda Vikatan, Jason said his family, especially his parents, fully supported his choice to enter the film industry.

Jason, who is preparing for the release of his first film, Sigma, produced by Lyca Productions, said support from his loved ones gave him the confidence to continue.

Jason said that when he decided to work in cinema, he talked it over with his parents, sister, and friends.

They all supported and encouraged him, which motivated him. He also mentioned that when Sigma started filming, Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, and others wished him well, and many people sent their blessings.

He also said he already has ideas for his upcoming projects.

He mentioned he has two or three strong story ideas and plans to start working on them after Sigma is released.

Jason Sanjay Reveals Why He Chose Filmmaking Over Acting

Jason said his interest in movies started early since he grew up in a film family. He visited sets as a child and attended several premieres.

He added that watching films has always been one of his favourite hobbies, and that audiences can now explore movies from all over the world across many genres.

He said that whenever he watches a film, he pays close attention to how the story unfolds from beginning to end. For him, it's like a game.

When he talks with friends who haven't seen a movie, he enjoys telling them the story. He believes this love for storytelling was the start of his journey as a filmmaker.

Jason Sanjay Reveals How a Canadian Film School Project Became His Debut

Jason also talked about how he began directing while studying filmmaking in Canada. He wrote a full-length script and decided to turn it into a short film to better understand his strengths as a filmmaker.

He said that while studying filmmaking in Canada, he wrote a 120-page script.

Since he couldn't make a full-length film then, he considered filming just one scene or making a short film based on the whole story.

In the end, he made it into a 20-minute short film and learned what worked and what didn't. After finishing his studies and returning to India, he explored several ideas.

One concept stood out, so he shared it with friends and others in the film industry. Based on their feedback, he worked to improve the weaker parts and build on the strengths.

He concluded by saying that his uncle Sanjeev introduced him to producer Tamil Kumaran. At first, he only wanted to share his story with a producer for experience, not to make a film.

Tamil Kumaran liked the story, and later the producer, Subaskaran, also appreciated it. That story eventually became Sigma, which will be released soon.

Jason Sanjay will make his directorial debut with Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role.
