Padma Awards 2026: President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Awards ceremony 2026 during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony on Tuesday evening at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.
An official statement said she gave out 65 Padma Awards in total: two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri.

Padma Awards 2026: Late comedian actor Satish Shah received a posthumous award, which his brother Arvind Shah accepted for him.
This year, the President approved 131 Padma Awards: five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honours.
The awards are announced every year on Republic Day to honour exceptional work in areas like art, literature, education, medicine, science, sports, public affairs, business, social work, and civil service.

Alka Yagnik Padma Bhushan: Playback singer Alka Yagnik recently gave an update on her health and thanked her fans and the government after receiving the Padma Bhushan for her work in music.
In her thank-you note, the 60-year-old singer, who has a hearing disorder, shared that she has dealt with health issues over the past two years.
She received the award from President Droupadi Murmu on June 23 in New Delhi. After a video showed her being helped onto the stage, fans became worried about her health.
After the Rashtrapati Bhavan ceremony, Yagnik said she stayed out of the spotlight for most of the past two years because of her health. She missed public events but chose to attend this one as she is slowly "finding her way back."

She thanked her fans for this achievement and said the honour also belongs to the loyal listeners who have supported her music through all times.

Yagnik said the award means even more to her as she is "slowly making her way back" into public life.
She explained that this recognition is more than just an award because it reminds her of the support, love, and resilience that have shaped her.

She added that her return has been slow and that she wanted to be present not only for herself but also for those who have supported her over the years.

Alka Yagnik Honoured by President Murmu
Padma Awards 2026: Yagnik thanked President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Government of India for the award and expressed her gratitude for the honor.
She said she accepted the award with “immense humility and respect” and added that it felt like receiving the love and prayers of millions who have followed her journey.
Yagnik is currently dealing with sensorineural hearing loss caused by a sudden viral attack, a condition she first experienced.
In an interview with NDTV a few months ago, she said she has not fully recovered and is still facing challenges.
