A Flashback to Mukesh Khanna’s Iconic Roles

Moving on to his beliefs on marriage and love, let’s have a quick flashback to two iconic roles of veteran actor Mukesh Khanna.

Bhishma Pitamah - Mythological Character

Mukesh Khanna did appear in some films in the earlier decade as a hero, but it didn’t give him the fame he achieved in the role of BR Chopra’s Mahabharat in 1988.

He played the role of Bhishma Pitamah, which was earlier assigned to actor Vijendra Ghatge, whom he declined, and Mukesh Khanna was later finalised for it.

In other words, we can say that the role of this powerful character in the Mahabharat was destined for him alone, and he truly nailed it.

The role became part of his personality, and he was remembered for it by many.

Shaktimaan - Superhero Character

After Bhishma Pitamah, Mukesh Khanna entered the superhero genre and became famous as Shaktimaan. His desi superhero character amassed a great fan following among kids in the 90s.

Donned in the red costume with yogic powers, he was so popular that children even risked their lives to imitate Shaktimaan's flying action. There were even reports of serious injury and the death of children.

They had this belief that Shaktimaan would save them from falling. Overall, the actor’s superhero character did become a huge buzz among children.

There have been reports of bringing Shaktimaan into the big screen, and Ranveer Singh being approached to play the titular character.

However, Mukesh Khanna refuted all this, and is not in favour of seeing the Dhurandhar actor to play Shaktimaan. Here is the video to watch
