Akshay-Raveena Reunion: Famous 90s Pair Comes Back
Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon formed a popular onscreen pair during the 90s Bollywood era. Both have starred in multiple films.
Director Ahmed Khan called Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon's reunion in Welcome To The Jungle a special treat for fans. He added that both actors felt at ease working together.
In a recent interview, the 52-year-old director said Raveena agreed to join the film right after learning Akshay was part of the cast.
Fans are excited because Akshay, 58, and Raveena, 53, were a popular on-screen pair in the 1990s, starring in movies like Mohra.
This is their first Bollywood film together in 22 years, since Police Force: An Inside Story.
Their pairing also gets attention because of reports that they once dated and were briefly engaged before going their separate ways.
Married to Twinkle Khanna for 25 years, Akshay shares two children with her—Aarav and Nitara.
Raveena married Anil Thadani in 2004, and they also have two children, Rasha and Ranbirvardhan.
Ahmed said his long friendships with both actors made it easier to bring them together for Welcome To The Jungle.
He explained that they have known each other for over thirty years and are familiar with each other's lives.
When asked about the difficulty of reuniting the Mohra cast, Ahmed explained that the decision was driven by audience demand, noting that he chose to deliver on the fans' desire to see the actors together again.
Ahmed added that Raveena showed no hesitation upon learning of Akshay's involvement in the comedy, noting that she emphasized their maturity as actors and friends who would enjoy working together on set.
He also talked about Akshay and Raveena's dance scene in the third Welcome movie, which was choreographed by Prince Gupta and Rahul Shetty.
He said everyone on set clapped when they performed together.
Suniel Shetty, who starred in Mohra in 1994, also shared his thoughts on seeing his old co-stars together again.
Ahmed recalled that during filming, Akshay and Raveena joked like friends and talked about their children.
He added that they had reminisced about the past and their work on earlier movies.
