Danny Danon Clashes With UN Officials Over Israel Blacklisting Report at Heated Hearing
Danny Danon Clashes with UN Officials: A United Nations public hearing on Friday turned into a heated argument between an Israeli diplomat and top UN officials.
The argument began when Israel’s UN Ambassador, Danny Danon, called for Pramila Patten to step down during the meeting in New York.
Patten serves as the UN secretary-general’s special representative on sexual violence in conflict.

UN Blacklist Israel: Patten recently wrote a report that, for the first time, put Israel on a UN blacklist for alleged conflict-related sexual violence violations.
When she and Danon met at the hearing for the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, tensions rose.
"You caved to the secretary-general's obsession with targeting Israel," Danon said, referring to UN chief Antonio Guterres.

He snapped that if she didn't want to listen, she should go out.
UN Officials Clash with Israel Diplomat: Israel Lashes Out at UN Over Reports Accusing Forces of Violations During War
Danny Danon clashes with UN officials: This tense exchange and break from diplomatic norms showed Israel’s growing anger over several UN reports accusing Israeli forces of violations during the war.
Frazier’s report, released this week for Guterres, warned that Israeli settler groups could also be added to a global blacklist for serious violations against children.
Palestinian Children Report: The report highlighted what the UN chief called a “staggering” rise in violations against Palestinian children.

Danny Danon Clashes with UN Officials: Israel has reportedly already been placed on the report's so-called "list of shame" annexes over alleged violations against children.
Last month, after Patten’s report came out, Danon called the findings politically motivated.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry also said it would cut ties with Guterres, whose second and final term as secretary-general ends later this year.
Both Patten’s and Frazier’s reports also mention Hamas, the Palestinian militant group behind the October 7 attack on Israel that started the Gaza war.
In his annual report on conflict-related sexual violence presented to the UN Security Council last August, Guterres cautioned Israel and Russia that they might be placed on the list of parties suspected on credible grounds of carrying out or bearing responsibility for patterns of rape or other sexual violence.
Danny Danon Clashes with UN Officials: The UN chief said the warning was based on "significant concerns regarding patterns of certain forms of sexual violence that have been consistently documented" by the organization. Danon rejected the allegations at the time as unfounded.
