Speeding car mows down Zepto delivery rider in west Delhi, driver arrested
A 25-year-old delivery rider lost his life when a car rammed his electric body near the Subhash Nagar Metro Station in West Delhi. The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday.
Delhi Accident: What Happened?
According to officials, a PCR call reported about the Subhash Nagar incident at Tilak Nagar police station at 3:26 AM.
After that, a police team arrived at the Subhash Nagar Metro red light on Najafgarh Road, near Rajouri Garden, where they spotted both vehicles involved in the crash.
Road Accident in Delhi: Victim Worked as Zepto Delivery Executive
The deceased Hem Shakar was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhayay Hospital. But doctors of the hospital declared him dead.
Shakar was employed as a delivery executive in Zepto and was riding an electric scooter when the accident happened.
Witness Alleges Drunk Driving Case
According to police, the eyewitnesses saw a Hyundai Varna car hitting the e-scooter from behind, killing the Zepto delivery executive on the spot.
Alleging it to be a drunk driving case, they said that the accused car driver was drunk and attempted to flee after hitting the delivery rider.
Hit and Run Case: Accused Taken Into Custody
The accused, who took the life of a Zepto delivery executive with his speeding car, has been taken into custody.
His name is revealed as Mohit Kumar, a 27-year-old. He lives in Najafgarh and works as an MCD contractor.
The car he was driving has been seized, and an FIR is lodged against him at Tilak Nagar police station.
Further legal procedures are ongoing.
