Movies: A Childhood Passion That Never Dimmed

Tom Cruise also shared his love for movies since childhood. He recalls being a child sitting in a dark theatre, watching a beam of light turning into a larger world than he had ever imagined. 

It made him believe that life is beyond his imagination and can expand further than what he has perceived in his life. Since then, he has been chasing that beam.

Tom Cruise earlier had four nominations. These were for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, and as a producer of Top Gun: Maverick

But getting the Honorary Oscar finally placed him among the legends he once admired. 

The Oscar evening was not confined to Cruise. The other awardees included Debby Allen for Cynthia Erivo, Wynn Thomas for his long-term career in production design, and Dolly Parton for the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. 

Guests presented at the event included Dwayne Johnson, Emma Stone, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jennifer Lawrence.
