The Duleep Trophy 2026-27 semifinal started in Bengaluru at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

In this, the four regional zones - Central Zone, South Zone, East Zone and North Zone- made it to the final four to compete in red-ball conditions.

Both contests took place simultaneously, bringing plenty of excitement to see the top Indian sports stars in action on the field.

The long-format game demands clever tactics, patience, and technique expected from both batters and bowlers.

As expected, there was huge excitement from the opening session. Bowlers gained good movement from the pitch, whereas batters struggled hard to form robust partnerships.

Duleep Trophy semifinals: The Day 1 report of Duleep Trophy across both venues highlighted great red-ball action through clever bowling line-ups and tough middle-order batting.

The team that batted first experienced tough conditions due to early-morning moisture, which proved an advantage for the fast pacers to quick knockouts.

However, the smart counterattacks and disciplined bowling made for a closely balanced, competitive semifinal contest at the end of the opening phase.

Central Zone vs East Zone Score

After winning the toss in the first semifinal match, East Zone opted to bowl first to gain an early advantage in the conditions.

Talking about Central Zone, it found it challenging to get going early on as East Zone’s pace attack struck at regular intervals.

However, Rinku Singh’s fighting half-century of 60 runs worked well for Central Zone, stabilising its innings, which was also followed by Harsh Dubey’s helpful contribution.

Central Zone was finally bowled out for 266 runs in 80.1 overs.

In response, when it was East Zone's turn to bat, it showed immense aggression. Opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran played very smoothly, scoring an unbeaten half-century to lead from the front.

By the session break, East Zone had already put up a robust score of 183 runs for 2 wickets in 31 overs, and were just behind the Central Zone by 83 runs.

Sudip Kumar Gharami and Easwaran formed a good partnership, keeping East Control firmly in control by staying on the crease.

The current status shows the match is tied, with Eastern Zone bowled out for 266/10 in 57 overs.

South Zone vs North Zone Score

Duleep Trophy Semifinals: In the second semifinal, North Zone won the toss and opted to bat first. However, South Zone's bowling lineup was up to the challenge, putting constant pressure on North Zone’s batting lineup.

North Zone was bowled out for 195 runs in 59.1 overs. Gurnoor Brar was the star with the ball for South Zone, dismantling the opposition lineup with a superb spell of 4 wickets for just 36 runs.

When South Zone came out to bat, they also faced severe trouble against North Zone’s disciplined attack. South Zone lost quick wickets early, slipping to 113 for 5 in 46 overs.

India's young star Tilak Varma showed grit by playing a patient knock of 24 runs off 88 balls, staying unbeaten alongside Shreyas Gopal to rebuild the innings. South Zone currently trails North Zone by 82 runs in their first innings.
