Samay Raina Felicitated by Devendra Fadnavis: In Mumbai on Wednesday, the Maharashtra Cyber unit launched a new short film titled Digital Arrest and introduced the 1930 Maharashtra Cyber Anthem.

The Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, was present at the event together with some celebrities including Ashish Vidyarthi, Pankaj Tripathi and Samay Raina.

Samay, who had been involved in producing both the film and the anthem, was acknowledged by the Chief Minister and spoke of his long association with Maharashtra Cyber.

At the event, Samay thanked Devendra Fadnavis for noticing him and said he had already saved Maharashtra Cyber's number since they call him a lot.

He spoke of his long association with the group and stated that 1930 was an important milestone.

Samay Raina Felicitated by Devendra Fadnavis: Samay also praised the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. He remarked on an instance in which a cyber cell officer had gone to a comedian's house in the early morning and taken him in, relating his own experiences from India’s Got Latent controversy.

He found it funny that he was now being honoured by the same organisation. In February 2025, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell looked into Samay for his YouTube programme, India’s Got Latent, and he subsequently came into legal trouble after being accused of promoting obscenity and explicit content.

Samay Raina Cyber Cell Joke: The controversy began after guest podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made a remark to a contestant about parents and sex.

FIRs were filed by several people against Samay, Ranveer, and other individuals involved in the programme.

Following the controversy, Samay was forced to remove all the episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube.

Samay Raina Felicitated by Devendra Fadnavis: At the beginning, when he was summoned for questioning, he was in the United States and was required to give his statement via video call, but the Maharashtra Cyber Cell wanted him to appear in person and therefore served further summonses.

Later, Samay met with officials from the Cyber Cell in Mumbai and admitted his errors. He referred to this as a "full circle moment."

A fan lauded Samay for reversing the situation, one described it as a full-circle moment, and a third said that his comeback demonstrated resilience.

Samay has now started the second season of India’s Got Latent, and the episodes are available on YouTube.

Ashish Vidyarthi, Pankaj Tripathi, Sharad Kelkar, Sonali Bendre, Javed Jaffrey, singer Sunidhi Chauhan, Mangesh Desai and Samay Raina, who took part in the short film and the 1930 Maharashtra Cyber Anthem, were present at the event together with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The event showed that artists, actors, and singers can help raise public awareness of cybercrime, and the celebrities were also honoured for their work on the Digital Arrest short film and the 1930 Maharashtra Cyber Anthem.

"No Such Thing as Digital Arrest": Fadnavis Urges Vigilance Against Fake Authority Scams

During the event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that people often become nervous when cybercriminals impersonate police officers, CBI officials, or even judges.

According to him, it is their tactic to scare their victims. Hence, people must stay vigilant and must not fall prey to such scams. If they feel anything suspicious, then contacting the 1930 helpline is the immediate solution.

The celebrities in the short documentary film were applauded for their initiative in spreading awareness about cybercrime.

Samay Raina even joked about waking up early for the event.

Actor Ashish Vidyarthi told a news agency that the campaign is important since technology makes life more convenient but also provides criminals with new methods of tricking people; he stated that the campaign would help people realise that 'digital arrest' is not a real thing and would teach them how to recognise this kind of scam.

In a cyber scam, impersonators target people and intimidate them by posing as police officers or government officials. Their main intention is to steal their money.

This campaign is a positive step toward raising awareness about cybercrime and advises people to stay alert and quickly report any cyber fraud by calling Maharashtra’s 1930 cybercrime helpline.
