Delhi-NCR Heavy Rain: It rained heavily all night in many areas of Delhi-NCR, especially in Noida and Ghaziabad. The rain continued on Thursday morning, causing severe waterlogging and slow traffic.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for all of Delhi, warning of very heavy rain. 

Ghaziabad, Noida, Meerut, and Gurugram are on orange alert, with more heavy rain expected today.

Delhi-NCR Heavy Rain: Next 12 Hours Critical

Weather experts warned Thursday morning that the rain could become even heavier in the next few hours. 

Amateur weatherman Navdeep Dahiya posted on X that Delhi-NCR is likely to experience a "massive rainfall event" in the next 24 hours because the area is in the western part of a low-pressure system.

He said the next 12 hours are crucial, with steady light-to-moderate rain and frequent heavy showers expected.

He also mentioned that eastern NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and north and east Delhi, could receive up to 200 mm of rain. 

Central, west, and south Delhi, along with Faridabad, may get 100 to 150 mm, and Gurugram could see 70 to 150 mm. 

Waterlogging in Delhi: Alert Issued

Delhi-NCR Heavy Rain: Dahiya advised people to stay indoors unless necessary and warned about waterlogging, especially in eastern NCR and nearby parts of Delhi.

A recent post on X said Delhi-NCR will likely experience a major rainfall event in the next 24 hours because it is in the western part of a low-pressure area. The next 12 hours, until late evening, are expected to be the most critical. 

The region will likely see steady light-to-moderate rain with frequent heavy showers, but the impact will vary by area. 

Waterlogging in Noida: East NCR, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and north and east Delhi, could get up to 200 mm of rain. 

Central, west, and south Delhi, along with Faridabad, may receive 100 to 150 mm, and Gurgaon could see 70 to 150 mm. 

East-central Haryana and Chandigarh may get lighter but still significant rain of 40 to 100 mm.

Stay Indoors Advisory: Delhi-NCR Rain Alert: Severe Waterlogging Risk; Residents Urged to Stay Indoors 

Delhi-NCR Heavy Rain: According to weather experts, go outside only if necessary, as there is a high risk of waterlogging across most areas, especially in eastern NCR and nearby parts of Delhi. Stay safe. 

They said a low-pressure area in the monsoon trough is moving north of Delhi, and its western and southwestern parts are expected to affect Delhi-NCR. 

They forecast steady heavy rain with strong cloud activity, estimating 180 to 250 mm of rain in east Delhi, east NCR, Ghaziabad, Noida, Baghpat, and Meerut over the next 24 hours. 

Noida (Gautam Buddh Nagar) and Gurugram in Haryana are under an orange alert for thunderstorms and a moderate-to-intense spell of rain.

The IMD predicts more rain in Delhi-NCR over the next few days. 

Authorities are telling people to avoid unnecessary travel, watch for waterlogging and traffic jams, and follow official weather updates. 

Delhi Traffic Due to Rain: Gurugram Struggles With Waterlogging, Offices Opt for WFH 

Delhi-NCR Heavy Rain: Rain across Delhi-NCR has caused serious waterlogging and long traffic jams in many places, especially in Gurugram. As a result, some private offices have asked employees to work from home. 

Gurgaon remained flooded on Wednesday and Thursday, with traffic moving very slowly on main roads, including the Delhi-Jaipur Highway service lane near Narsinghpur, Basai, Kadipur, and Sohna Road. 

Several vehicles broke down in waterlogged areas, leaving commuters stuck for hours.

Delhi Rain Live Updates: Gurugram Authorities Deployed as Heavy Rains Cause Widespread Waterlogging 

Officials said teams from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), the police, and other agencies are working to clear flooded roads and manage traffic. 

Waterlogging has been reported in Sectors 31 and 39, Sheetla Mata Mandir Road, Sector 10A, Pataudi Road, Basai Road, Kadipur, Umang Bhardwaj Chowk, and other locations. 

The IMD reported that several parts of Delhi-NCR received heavy rain between 8:30 am on July 8 and 6 am on July 9.

In Delhi, Mehrauli had the most rain at 83 mm, followed by

  • Chhatarpur -  68 mm
  • Mayur Vihar -  66 mm
  • Janakpuri -  62 mm
  • Narayana -  57 mm
  • Pragati Maidan -  46 mm
  • Najafgarh -  42 mm
  • Mungeshpur -  40 mm
  • Jharoda Kalan -  33 mm
  • Jafarpur -  6 mm

Kamla Nehru Nagar recorded the highest rainfall at 143 mm, while Hindon had 53 mm. 

In Gurugram, rainfall was lower, with North CAP University recording 27 mm and KVK 21 mm during the same period. 

Red alert Delhi-NCR: The IMD has issued a red alert for Delhi and an orange alert for nearby NCR districts, warning of more heavy rain and possible waterlogging and traffic problems today.
