While briefing at an event in Nagpur, Gadkari stated that his daily tasks have now been minimised. Now he expects the new generation to carry the bigger responsibilities.

According to Gadkari, his workload has been trimmed with age. He has successfully served in public service for 30 years.

Further, he now feels that it's time for the new generation to step up and take responsibility, while the older generation must act as a guiding force for them.

Nitin Gadkari Political Future: The 69-year-old Union Minister also mentioned upcoming development work. He said that the workload will increase in the coming years.

The main objective, according to him, will be to ensure that no village in Maharashtra is left bereft of electricity and that development is visible across the state.

As the comments stirred curiosity among political watchers, Gadkari’s office later clarified that his comment was directed towards the Laxmanrao Mankar Trust, an organisation he established that runs Ekal Vidyalayas (one-teacher primary schools in tribal areas).

New Generation in BJP: 51 New Faces Included

Nitin Gadkari Political Future: Gadkari made these comments only a few days after the BJP made its biggest organisational changes since 2015, when Amit Shah was in charge of the party.

Last week, the Bharatiya Janata Party declared its new national team under the leadership of party president Nitin Nabin.

It featured a 65-member team, including 51 fresh faces, indicating a generational transition within the organisation.

This new team comprises 13 national vice presidents, featuring former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former RSS functionary Ram Madhav. Former Union minister Smriti Irani is also among the party’s eight national general secretaries.

A Brief Glance at Nitin Gadkari’s Political Journey

Born on May 27, 1957, in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Nitin Gadkari grew up in a family with agricultural roots.
He always admired his mother for having a big influence on him, in helping people in need.
Gadkari carried forward the values his mother taught him throughout his life. He helped people even if it meant utilising his family's limited resources.
The 1975 emergency had a major impact on Gadkari’s life.
During his student days, he raised his voice against the Emergency and got associated with RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) and ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad).
The ideas of RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar had influenced him. It included mainly those that represented humanity and nation-building.
Gadkari studied Law and Business Management and also did his post-graduation in Commerce.
His political perspective mainly centred on Antyodaya, an objective aimed at bringing positive changes to the lives of the downtrodden in society.
Over the years, he had been supportive of multiple initiatives linked to fields such as water conservation, education, rural development, agriculture, and healthcare.
When Gadkari became Maharashtra’s Public Works Department Minister in 1995, his main task was to improve road connectivity.
According to a source, his efforts yielded fruitful results in connecting 98% of Maharashtra’s population to all-weather roads. It included 12, 736 remote villages.
His other successful works included the promotion of the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model for infrastructure projects, the completion of major projects such as the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and many flyovers in Mumbai.
After entering national politics, he was appointed Union Minister for Road Transport in 2014.
Since then, he has put emphasis on highways, expressways, cleaner fuels, and road safety.
He even promoted green hydrogen and other substitute fuel options. Besides that, Gadkari is also credited for his initiatives on the Clean Ganga Project, waterways, traditional industries, and rural development.
