In Mumbai, the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration suspended the license for Blinkit’s Malad (West) facility due to serious food safety and hygiene problems.

The Karnataka government said inspections found several violations and warned that food businesses breaking safety rules will face strict legal action.

The Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration inspected Zepto’s warehouse at the Nippon Express facility in Hoskote taluk.

Officials checked quality, safety, storage, labelling, and food-handling practices as required by the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and related rules.

Indira Canteens and Quick-Commerce Sites Hit with Notices Over Safety Lapses

They issued a notice and recommended the case be reviewed by the Adjudicating Officer for further legal action.

Officials also inspected three Indira Canteens in Gottigere, Singasandra, and Lingarajapuram. They found issues with labelling, misbranding, and other violations of FSSAI rules.

Officials collected samples of pulses, turmeric powder, cooking oil, jaggery, salt, sugar, and prepared food for lab testing.

Food businesses were told to keep things clean, control pests, store and separate food safely, and throw out expired items and used oil, or face legal penalties.

Zepto Blinkit Food Safety Violations: According to Zepto, it cooperated with the inspection and is taking steps based on the officials' feedback.

A Zepto spokesperson said that authorities regularly conduct food safety inspections across the country.

The company said it fully cooperated, noted the officials' suggestions, and is working to address them.

The spokesperson added that Zepto is committed to improving its processes and keeping high standards of food safety and hygiene.

Blinkit Latest News: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration suspended the license of Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd, which operates Blinkit, for its Malad (West) facility after serious food safety and hygiene violations.

Media reports say officials found a major cockroach infestation, food stored improperly, and expired or tampered products at the facility.

Officials also found food stored on rusted racks. Reports say the cold storage areas were not clean enough, and expired or spoiled packaged food was also found.

Zepto Blinkit Food Safety Violations: According to an official statement, the facility is not allowed to sell or distribute food or do any food-related business while the license is suspended.

A retail outlet in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district was also investigated after reports of live larvae found in a popular sweet sold there.

Officials said they took action after receiving a complaint that live larvae were found in packaged Laxmi Narayan-brand kaju katli at the outlet, according to media reports.

₹10,238 Crore Worth Food Sample Seized During Store Inspection

Zepto Blinkit Food Safety Violations: During the inspection, officials found that the batch mentioned in the complaint, made on May 29 and expiring on August 29, was no longer available at the store.

They collected a sample from another batch made on July 20, which is valid until October 20.

The sample, weighing 11.340 kg and valued at ₹10,238 crore, was seized and sent to an authorised food laboratory for testing.
