Fielding coach T Dilip's contract finished on June 8, after he received a one-year extension to his original term.

Subhadeep Ghosh Coach: The BCCI has reportedly interviewed two or three candidates for the open spot on Gambhir's coaching staff. According to PTI, Subhadeep Ghosh is now the top choice.

His background in Indian cricket could help him secure the job. Ghosh, a former first-class cricketer for Assam and Railways, played 17 first-class matches and 17 List A games before becoming a coach.

He has worked in Indian cricket for the past six or seven years, starting when Rahul Dravid was at the National Cricket Academy.

He has coached the Under-19 and senior women's teams and was part of the India A support staff during their recent Sri Lanka tour. He also coaches the IPL team Delhi Capitals.

Ghosh, originally from Guwahati, played first-class cricket for Assam and Railways.
As a right-handed batter, he scored 623 runs and made four half-centuries in 34 first-class and List A matches.

As fielding coach, he helped the India Under-19 squad defeat England by 100 runs in Harare, earning a record sixth title.
