US Iran War Live Updates: Trump Announces Iran Blockade as Middle East Conflict Escalates

US Iran War Live Updates: On Monday, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would reinstate the naval blockade on Iran. 

He added that other countries would have “fair and open use” of the Strait of Hormuz. This blog is now closed.

President Trump also said the US would serve as the “guardian” of the strait and would receive 20 percent of all cargo shipped. He stated that this “process” would begin immediately.

Earlier, Iran's top military officials said Tehran would not allow Washington to help manage the strait.

US Iran War Live Updates: US Strike in Isfahan Kills One, Wounds Seven, Iranian Officials Say

US Strikes on Iran: At least one person was killed, and seven others were injured in a US strike on a military base in Nain city, Isfahan province, according to Iranian media. 

The deputy governor of Isfahan said the casualties happened "following an attack by the terrorist American army" and that the injured are receiving treatment, as reported by Al Jazeera. 

Iranian media also reported that the latest US strikes in Iran killed at least two people.

US Iran War Live Updates: Iran said it will not keep its commitments under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States unless Washington meets its own obligations, according to Reuters, quoting the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson. 

Separately, Iran said it shot down a US-made ‘Lucas’ suicide drone over Bandar Abbas. According to the Tasnim news agency, the drone was hit dead-on and shot down.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched strikes on US military bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, according to Iranian state media. 

They reported a fifth wave of attacks, targeting US-linked military sites in Bahrain and radar sites in Oman with missiles and drones. 

Earlier, the IRGC said it struck dozens of targets at several locations across Iran.

According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the targets included Iranian military air defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats. 

The operation involved US fighter jets, naval ships, one-way attack aerial drones, and, for the first time, one-way attack sea drones.

Middle East Conflict: At Least Two Dead, 11 Injured in Recent US Strikes Across Iran

Since Sunday, at least two people have died and 11 have been injured in US strikes on Iran. The Mehr news agency reports that a US attack in Isfahan, Iran, killed one person and injured seven others.

On Sunday, local officials said one person was killed and four were injured when a US projectile hit a water pumping station in Mahshahr, Khuzestan. 

Iran's state news agency IRNA said the person killed was a security guard at the facility. 

Khuzestan's deputy governor, Valiollah Hayati, confirmed that rescue and medical teams are helping those who were hurt.

Iran's air raid sirens sounded across Bahrain at dawn on Monday, according to the country's interior ministry. 

Bahrain serves as the base for the US Navy's 5th Fleet. Media reports said there was no immediate information about any damage.

US Iran War Latest News: On Sunday, Iran launched new missiles in southern Iran. 

According to Iranian state media, explosions struck Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask, and Qeshm Island just hours after the US announced additional military strikes on Iranian assets. 

The latest strikes followed a day of intense military exchanges. The US military attacked more than 140 places in Iran. 

In response, Tehran attacked US military bases and facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Jordan. 

Iranian strikes also hit border posts and an oil rig, while Qatar reported injuries from intercepted projectiles. 

Strait of Hormuz 'Open' but Restrained by Iran Amid Reports of Incoming Fire in Gulf

Oman, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates said they detected incoming fire during the week. The Strait of Hormuz is central to these events. 

Washington and Tehran have given different statements about the status of this important oil shipping lane. 

The waterway is officially "open." However, Iran says ships will not be allowed until "stability and calm are restored," according to the country's Persian Gulf Strait Authority.

Shipping Traffic Through the Strait of Hormuz Continues to Decline

CNN and MarineTraffic say that at least six commercial ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the last 24 hours as the US-Iran ceasefire breaks down.

Two caTwo cargo ships entered the Persian Gulf, and four ships left the area. The departing ships included two cargo ships and two tankers.

This is a bit less than the already low number of ships seen in recent days since indirect talks between the US and Iran stopped. Before the war, around 110 ships crossed the strait each day on average.

Open-source data also shows a small rise in “GPS spoofing” in the area. This kind of interference causes ships to appear in the wrong place.

Brent Crude Price After Iran Attack

Oil Prices Jump: Oil prices rose on Monday after President Trump said the US would reinstate a blockade of Iranian ports. Traders reacted quickly to the news.

Brent crude, the main global oil benchmark, rose 9.59% to $83.30 a barrel. This was its highest close since June 12 and the biggest one-day jump in more than six years.

WTI, the main US oil benchmark, gained about 9.4% to end at $78.14 a barrel. This was its highest close since June 15.
